Did not receive my ice scoop but customer service came through

Opened the present to find it’s missing the ice scoop. Now I could just go get one but that wouldn’t fit those nice slots in the basket. And ice scoop does seem to go walking in my house.Will revisit after I get my scoop and get it running. Looks like just what I wanted.UPDATE …so they offered a credit so I could buy my own ice scoop and I accepted.Got it cleaned, love that cleaning cycle, and in place last night. It is bulkier and higher than my current one so it pays to measure. It was higher than my cabinet door so slid it over on the counter. Very quiet compared to what I had before. And I just love the larger basket and water holding capacity. That’s why I upgraded to this model. I’m a big ice user. My drink used to take the entire basket of my old ice maker which took an hour to fill. I’m somewhat disabled so hated getting up each hour to empty basket on the previous ice maker. Wanted to settle in and get comfy with my drink…not jumping up and down.I’m very pleased with the speed…it got to 80 in the house today. Size of basket…the cubes are longer than the previous one…And so quiet in comparison. Set my timer for 2 hours basket not full yet so no real idea on how long to fill the basket. But wonderful to just sit there enjoying my tv knowing it’s still making ice.So far it’s everything I wanted in an upgrade. Customer service was a little hard to find but got back to me the next day and offered solutions.After using it longer might be back to up to 5 stars,I’m very pleased so far

So I gave away a smaller one and ordered this. I loved my other one but figured more ice is better so I would upgrade.I say buy the small ones as I was disappointed as the thing is way bigger in overall size but I ignored that because it holds more ice and even better way more water as I was tired of refilling my small one.Then I put it to use only to learn you need to use this a lot all day or all the ice on the bottom half melts into 1 chunky cube leaving you only half the tray as nice ice cubes.My smaller one didn't have this issue so I unless you expect to use this for over 6 cups a day of drinks I would definitely go with the smaller ones because the ice will stick together making this one have less nice ice cubes than the small one unless you want to stab the pile and break it up all the time.Also I don't know if it matters but I have this in my work area, a cool AC room so it may be worse or better if you use it in a room that is warmer, who knows.Perfect for a family that will use it all day but for 1 person you probably won't use it enough to keep the ice in shape.Hope this helps you look for the size you need as I have started turning it off when I'm not there for the day to melt all the chunks and start fresh when I get home

A little noisier, but makes ice faster

This is our third ice maker. We use icemakers for about 5 months per year and our prior ice makers lasted 5-6 years, so I am hoping for the same out of this one. I picked this ice maker because it is a little taller, giving it a bigger capacity without a bigger footprint. The prior ice makers were nearly silent and used a computer-type fan to disperse the heat. This one uses a more powerful fan and compressor, making it sounds more like a mini refrigerator. It's not loud, but you may notice the noise if you are sitting nearby.In exchange for the extra noise, you get a new set of ice cubes every 5 minutes, which is faster than my prior ice cube makers. The ice cubes are also a little bigger/taller. Of course, the loudest sound is the falling ice, which is not any different for this or my past ice makers. If you have guests sleeping nearby on the couch, you'll want to turn this off at night.It comes with an ice scoop and the basket has a slot at the bottom to hold the scoop upright, so the scoop doesn't get buried in the ice. This year I was tempted by Bolo's add-on recommendation to buy an Osco ice scoop. However, the Osco scoop does not stand upright, and it gets buried under the ice if you leave it lying flat in the ice basket. Unless you have a nearby drawer to hold the scoop, I suggest sticking with the free scoop that comes with the ice maker.

Easier to use than the average size portable ice maker

I am a chronic ice eater. This is my third countertop ice maker in 12 years of using them 24/7. I haven't bought this brand before but they all seem the same to me.I tried to include pictures of everything I'd like to know. The last picture is a side by side of the average size portable ice maker.When I received it, I thought I'd have to send it back. I was afraid it wouldn't fit underneath my upper cabinets. Once I started making ice, I noticed the cubes are about a half inch longer than the smaller ice maker.I usually fill up a 64 ounce cup of ice (which is about the amount of ice the smaller ice maker basket holds). I didn't realize how often I was refilling the water reservoir in the smaller ice maker until I started using this one. It holds a lot of water. Since the basket is bigger, I will fill up my cup and turn off the ice maker leaving the other 64+ ounces of ice to slowly melt, making it perfect soft, crunchy ice. Once I refill my cup, I start the ice maker again.Pros:Bigger basketBigger water reservoirEasy to release water plugConsThe cons are the same with most countertop ice makers. The ice sticks together when it starts to melt. The noise level is about the same. The ice scoop isn't very big or sturdy.Overall, I'd recommend it.

Three months in and working fine

Based on reading products reviews, ice makers don't seem to last very long, but three months after purchasing this one I can report that it continues to work just fine daily. We leave it on 24/7 - both to pull ice from the basket and also to fill a container in the freezer - and I haven't noticed a jump in our electric bill. The ice is fine - we were not aware how much we would love the fact that it melts quickly in your drink, cooling it off fast. Be aware that this is a larger unit which has a bigger ice basket, so if you are just pulling ice from the unit, a lot of the ice is just going to sit there unless you are serving up for a party. For filling cube containers in the freezer though, the extra capacity is a definite bonus. We run the cleaning feature 3x with some ice maker cleaner every two weeks but we also only use heavily filtered water in it. No problems with mold or anything yucky. This unit is a bit loud when running with the fans blaring away but that really doesn't bother us. I just hope this continues to last.If you store ice in the freezer from this unit, be aware that the ice will stick together. It very easily separates with a light smack with a hammer, which I put a plastic bag over the head of. After that you can put it back in the freezer and it will stay loose
