I've tried several other ear drops, but none gave me the results I had with these. As my ears produce a great deal of wax I've not got a problem with the amount I received.
4.0 out of 5 stars Bicarbonate Ear Drops
Standard ear wax softener using sodium bicarbonate to break down hardened wax. Works okay for mild to moderate earwax buildup and helps ease clogged ear sensation. It’s a gentle formula, so low risk of irritation if used as directed.Don’t expect it to work instantly—softening takes a few days with regular use before you can flush or manually clear the wax. If you have severe blockage or infection, this won’t cut it and you’ll need professional intervention. The 10ml size is small but typical for ear drops. Packaging and dropper are functional but nothing fancy.Overall: a decent, no-nonsense OTC option for mild earwax issues. Just don’t rely on it as a quick fix or for serious ear problems.
5.0 out of 5 stars Effective, good value ear drops
A few times a year I end up with a slightly blocked ear due to ear wax which ends up affecting my hearing a bit. I usually use Otex ear drops which contain hydrogen peroxide, but after trying these they seem pretty effective. The instructions state that best results will be achieved by using the drops repeatedly for a few days, but I found for a recent light build-up of wax a single use and a gentle and careful syringing with warm water cleared it. If you're just relying on the drops though, repeated applications will be best. There's no fizzing sensation in your ear with these like you get with sodium hydroxide drops either. They're a little bit cheaper than Otex too, just be prepared not to get instant relief.
5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to use and effective
Sodium Bicarbonate Ear Drops – Ear Wax Removal and Blocked Ears | Ear Wax Softener Drop | Clogged Ear Relief- 10 ml - £4.19This is simple to use and works well. Great value.
5.0 out of 5 stars Good!
It's pretty self explanatory what this is and what it is for and I can happily report it has worked a treat for me! No side effects, no problems so gets a thumbs up!
5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to use and good results (within limits)
I ordered these Aactiwax sodium bicarbonate ear drops to try and help shift wax in a fully blocked ear.The ear drops are professionally packaged and have a comprehensive product information leaflet contained within the box. The sealed and labelled bottle has a main section that is made from soft plastic and is easy to squeeze, allowing you to dispense a couple of drops. The manufacturing and use-by date are also printed on the bottle ( mine were expiry: April 2027).I used the drops in both my ears daily for five days before an ear check by an audiologist as the ear that felt fully blocked just wasn't clearing. The audiologist stated that one ear was nice and clean with no wax, but that the one that was fully blocked required slightly more intrusive treatment.Due to the above I think it fair to state that this product will clean and keep clean a healthy ear, but if things are a bit more serious then a trip to the audiologist is far more effective.
4.0 out of 5 stars Good ear wax drops.
These ear drops are easy to use. They are a reasonable price and seem to be effective so far at helping with ear wax build up. They are best suited for mild cases rather than heavy wax problems which should always be checked by a doctor.
5.0 out of 5 stars Less messy than oil.
My husband uses hearing instruments (they're not called hearing aids anymore) and he recently experienced a bit of feedback in one of them. It turns out it was caused by a small amount of ear wax touching the device and the hearing specialist suggested cleaning his ears more frequently. He used olive oil to soften the wax so he could wash it out and it worked, but it is a bit messy. Neither of us had heard of sodium bicarbonate drops before but it's worth a try.The bottle size and style is the standard for eye or ear drops - I think most people would be familiar with it and it's very easy to use.The chemistry behind sodium bicarbonate drops is pretty simple - rather than just softening the wax as olive oil does, it softens and dissolves wax. Hopefully this is a one-stop solution if my husband gets wax build up.The instructions say to use for up to seven days to relieve wax build up - my husband doesn't usually get all that much wax, but I think if he used this at the first sign of an issue it would greatly benefit him.At £4.19 for a 10ml bottle (as at 18 May 2025) I think this is excellent value compared to an olive oil alternative. Definitely worth considering.
