Power supply is not consistent enough to power certain items. Would be fine for things that need charging or can cope with a power drop for a split second, but for the in-car dvd player we wanted to use it for it would just power off and need restarting again making it unusable.

5.0 out of 5 stars Successfully Does the Opposite of what Usually Happens with Cigarette Lighter Sockets - 5V to 12V
The lead reverses the usual arrangement where a car’s cigarette lighter socket is used to supply charging power to USB 5V phones, sat-navs and the like. Here a USB-C plug supplies 12V to a female cigarette lighter socket.With the right protocols available from your charger some USB-C power supplies can directly output 12V, but in this case PD, as it is called, is not used. This device takes 5V, which is available from any USB socket, and boosts it to 12V using an electronic circuit (called a Boost Converter) in the little box with a green LED.The power you can draw from the device it limited by the device itself and the charger you connect it to, but in any event it can’t exceed 12W and you will need a 3A 5V power supply to get that.The device will be useful for bench testing low powered car accessories when a regulated PSU isn’t to hand and you feel too lazy to lug a lead acid battery into the workshop, but its low power (in car terms) will limit its usefulness.

Works exactly as advertisedJust bear in mind the power limitations here - the input is from a USB socket delivering 5V which is converted to 12V by the device - the current drops accordingly.I'm not able to confirm the maximum current drawable at 12V - the device states 12W which is sufficient for low powered devices only. Check requirements before purchase.In use a green light shows when it has power, and a red light when current is drawn through it. The cigarette socket is of good quality and fits the plugs I've tried perfectly.
