Standard design of cable for hooking up graphics card video output to monitor. Braided cable but no noise suppressing beads and is a little bit thinner than another such cable I have. No problems with signal, as expected, so good to have as a spare or replacement. A bit expensive though, at time of writing this is £11 but with a 30% off box to tick.

This is a smart, discreet, flexible cable which is ideal for connecting to TVs or monitors on moveable mounts where thicker cables might be more awkward.I've used this cable on a large wall-mounted TV in our kitchen, where it was regularly adjusted depending on where family members are sitting. It performed well there.Where the cable has been especially useful is with a large additional computer monitor for which I can adjust the height and also swivel it between portrait and landscape orientation. Here the cable avoids the tendency to resist movement that you get with thicker cables threaded through the monitor stand, which makes it much easier to change the monitor position to suit different documents.I work on large documents with high screen resolutions and movement, where I might have expected a thin cable to be a problem; but this wasn't the case. The braiding is also good at protecting the inner conductors, so I fully expect a long working life. Overall, a very good product.

Coming in standard press lock packaging this is a nice quality, long braided cable but most of all, thin!The ends are nice and high quality with the gold plating, the screws are nice and firm and as a DVI cable is the best example at doing its job.But the cable thinness really needs to be commended as its main selling point! The braiding is nice and tight, happily surviving the tug test (cheaper ones can just thread out inside). The cable is nice and long and barely thicker than a mouse lead which for anyone who'd used the older DVI style is amazing.

WHAT IS IT FOR?It's a DVI cable for connecting a video output from a PC, console, PVR or other device to the DVI input on a computer display, TV or projector.DVI cables are usually 6 foot (1.8m) long, a throwback to the time when PCs were big and sat on the floor - you needed a long lead to reach the display on your desk.This cable is just 1m long, ideal if your PC is on the desk next to your display - you don't have to tidy away all that excess cable. Yes, I am tidying my desk!DVI is a digital video standard that comes in two main flavours:* DVI-D (digital)* DVI-I (analogue + digital)If you have a DVI-I output, a DVI-I lead allows you to connect to a DVI display or (via a small adaptor) a VGA display. This lead is DVI-I, so you have that option, if you have a DVI to VGA adaptor.From now on, for my own sanity, I'll assume you're connecting a computer's DVI output to a computer display's DVI input.IN THE BAGIn a plain ziplock bag you get:* The 1m DVI lead fitted with plug protectors (caps)* A nice little Velcro cable tieThe plugs are clearly branded and look quite high-end, with printing on the shells, not tacky stick-on labels. Nice. The cable is quite thin, with a braided sheath that feels armoured. Very nice.INSTALLINGIt's just a lead, so all you have to do is remove the protective end caps and plug it into your DVI sockets: the lead works either way round. The thumb screws work.There aren't any drivers to load, but you may want to tinker with your monitor's settings to get the best results (brightness, colour balance, etc) although DVI usually works well with default settings.USINGI don't have a display that supports 2600 x 1600 so can't test the maximum resolution claimed, but can confirm that it works just fine with 1920 x 1200 and the more common 1920 x 1080 (Full HD).BEST BITS+ It works, displaying video on my 1920 x 1200 screen with no obvious loss of quality+ Supports resolutions up to 2600 x 1600 (untested)+ The lead looks really impressive - a quality item+ It's DVI-I, so can carry VGA signals too, for use with a VGA display (via a DVI to VGA adaptor)WORST BITS - nothingCONCLUSIONAn excellent lead for your high resolution DVI devices, provided they're fairly close together! I have not managed to get a good display connection with this cable. It flickers and cuts out, but it might be the graphics card in my pc. Another cable from the same manufacturer is fine, so either way, this might be a faulty one.
