A good idea, but fails as the hole is roughly drilled so you have to force the steel nut on. As the bolt section is aluminium and weakened by the hole most of them bend and twist or break as you try to get the nut on.

These fitted into the slots in our aluminium greenhouse (Rhino) and then the nut clamps it in place. A split ring, similar to a key ring, can then be threaded through a hole in the bolt. Ring is strong enough to hold up a tomato plant or similar string, but wouldn’t take a hanging basket, a stronger ring would hold more weight, but I’m not sure that would be a good idea. Interesting mix of materials- Aluminium bolts, stainless nuts. Not sure what the rings are made of, but aluminium and stainless in a damp atmosphere will corrode electrolytically - which may mean that you can’t unscrew them again later on. But to be honest, at this price, who cares. Pleased with them, and will buy more if I need them.

A good idea and inexpensive but the quality control is lacking. Out of the packet only 7/20 had threads good enough to fit the nut. I was able to fix most of the others with a tap and die, but most people are not going to have one of those to hand. Even then one piece broke in the process, the bolts are aluminium and the hole bored in the shaft obviously weakens them. I can live with 1/20 in a packet of ironmongery being defective but the initial 13/20 is not acceptable quality to sell. Still 3* as the functioning products have proved a convenient solution for tieing things up in the greenhouse.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great idea but poor manufacturing tolerance means they are not fit for purpose.
In theory these fittings are a great idea however they come as separate parts that have to be assembled and herein lies the problem. I bought 2 boxes of these fittings, 1 box went together ok if a little stiff getting the nuts on the threaded bar but the second box would not go together at all. Turning the nuts with the enclosed spanner caused them to bind on the threads and distort the threads. The nuts were not cross threaded but seem to lace a problem when crossing the section with a hole drill through it.
