This is a reasonably priced two-bay NAS, suitable ONLY for basic users.The only advantage this device has over my 6+ years old WD MyCloud NAS is that the TS-216G has a 2.5Gbe ethernet connection as opposed to the gigabit one on the WD. Otherwise, for basic data storage/backup use, I don't see six year's worth of improvement over the basic Western Digital device.For anything even slightly advanced usage other than for basic storage, the ten year old ARM processor in this NAS is basically not powerful enough.My system is loaded with a 480GB 2.5" SATA drive and a 10TB Seagate Enterprise HDD, with auto tiering enabled. When I transferred 110,000 photos from my old NAS, the 216G took over a week (left on, un touched) just to index and for the QNAP QuMAGIE to analyze and categorise (mostly incorrectly - e.g. lamp post as faces, etc) my photos.The other problem is that to fully utilise the device, you need to buy extra licences from the vendors.Tools for analyzing/predicting SSD life? You need a licence.To Transcode media? Yes, you need to pay for a licence too.Plex? Yes, as well. My old WD MyCloud came with a licence for Twonky server!HybridMount to access Google Cloud, iCloud, other local NAS devices? Yep, you guessed it, you need to purchase a licence if you want to mount more than two devices/cloud storage.That is even before we start looking at their video surveillance suite.The other problem is, the UI is not intuitive - it is a mish-mash of disparate tools and the user experience differs even between the tools provided by QNAP themselves. Some of the tool tips provided are written in poor English, which doesn't help.

Desastre con la verificación en dos pasos
De entrada todo iba bien hasta que se me ocurrió configurar la verificación en dos pasos escaneando código QR. Resulta que teniendo la misma franja horaria (Madrid) en el equipo y en mi teléfono, hay un desfase de unos minutos que impide que complete la verificación, y ahora no hay forma de acceder. Ya he contactado con soporte que me dan indicaciones para volver a la configuración inicial y no hay forma. Un desastre que ocurran estas cosas.
