The awning is old and campervan new, so the two aren’t completely compatible. I needed clamps that were versatile, strong and weather proof. Previous clamps I had tried were either too small, or didn’t have a strong enough grip to cope with a bit of wind!I chose these because the picture showed the green clamp ends moved to ensure a strong grip on surfaces that weren’t exactly flat.I was not let down. These clamps are great quality, strong plastic with rubberized handle pads and a powerful enough spring to grip well and stay put even through wind and rain. The clamp ends moved to the contour of the surface as the picture showed so you do get a full ‘grip’. I clipped the awning to wheel arches of the vehicle, door rim and roof bars.7cm handle length gives plenty of space to grip fully in your hand – necessary to squeeze fully given the strength of the spring. The inner round of the clamp gives plenty of room to bunch up material (like our awning) and ensure a good grip. Fully open it spans about the size of a standard coffee mug. The opening span / jaw width of the grips is approx. 5.5cm. The square green clamp ends move approx. 20-30 degrees up or down giving it flexibility. If you love camping or clamping, or just need clamps to glue DIY projects, these are a must have and great value for money!
5.0 out of 5 stars Strong grips, good quality, third hand
Use these regularly in my workshop, they grip very well and are perfect for holding work material until you can get your hands free to attach a more secure clamp. Used for fitting a new kitchen recently single handed and they were invaluable. They're also good on the workbench to hold sheet materials in position when cutting. Once you've used them you'll find lots of different uses, my son stole one from me to hold his sheet music open on the piano!
4.0 out of 5 stars A handy clamp to have at a reasonable price.
I bought these to use on a wood working project I was doing, and in the end I didn't use them because they didn't have the depth that I needed. I bought whilst at work and should have had more patience and gone home to measure rather than thinking... "I'm sure that'll do!"That aside I'm mighty impressed. I've used them to clamp wood in place on my Workmate whilst I cut and also to hold a shelf in place whilst I fixed it to the wall, so they've still served me well. They're reasonably inexpensive, and whilst there are cheaper versions out there, I think it was worth the extra for the brand name I trust and reassurance that goes with that. They also seemed to have the added feature of the movable angle clamp ends which the cheaper offerings appeared to lack. This is actually invaluable in practice and prevents slipping or marking quite well (although I'd still use an off cut to clamp something that is going to be seen). The clamp is really quite strong and I think they'll last the test of time well. I like the soft grip handles too.Overall a good product. I just wish they were sold in pairs.
5.0 out of 5 stars Expensive but fairly robust
The clamps were delivered promptly on one of my orders, much slower on another albeit ordered at the same time. Possibly Selling stock not available?Be aware that sizes are based misleading as the jaw sizes are smaller than stated for both 60 and 40.The springs are quite strong and good for my purposes of holding a very thing items edge in place on thin cardboard whilst glue sets.No good for anything uneven rough sides or heavy unless laying on a worktop or similar to take weight.Made of moulded plastic and fairly robust but expensive for a piece of plastic.I intend us for a long time and hope that by looking after the clamps properly they will maintain a pressure for a good length of time.If you have only a one off or short term job, save yourself a lot of money and buy the pound shop version. Just as good in such circumstance
5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect!
Had a few little DIY jobs to do involving wood glue that just wouldn't stay together, thought I'd try these because I didn't want to spend to much as only some tiny odd jobs. They worked perfectly, really thick and sturdy, strong grip with flexible ends on the grip of the clamps. Meant it was great for both my task, one of which was a cylindrical dowl and the other some straight flat wood. Perfect results each time, now all stuck fast since i was finally able to clamp them in positionVery recommended
5.0 out of 5 stars Yet another great wolfcraft product!
I have amassed a small collection of wolfcraft clamps from this range, and every single one that has turned up has never failed to impress. They feel incredibly study, this one is a pretty substantial clamp that can exert a large force on whatever you are gluing at the time! The tips come off, I’m not sure if you can buy replacements or others in different materials (it comes with hard ones), but I had successfully modelled the tips on the smaller versions and printed out to test they work, if I manage to damage or want a soft tip in something like TPU I can just print them as needed. No hesitation on buying these, you won’t be disappointed, they really are a bargain at the price they retail for.
3.0 out of 5 stars Not overly impressed
The large 60mm version was not as strong as the 40mm which had a much tighter grip. The two grip pads are plastic and tend to slip rather than grip, if they were softer plastic or rubber it would be better, There's a good depth from the end of the jaw to the opening hinge and the pins in all hinges are metal, these are the only good thing about them. I see no point in getting the smaller one as the bigger one will do all and more, although not as tight. There are stronger and cheaper ones out there if you need a really secure clamp.
5.0 out of 5 stars Strong
Good clamping pressure and the adjustable heads are good in use 👍
