I have long wanted to stream CD quality music but could not justify the cost of a pair of Bolo Echo Studios, or pair of Sonos etc. Streaming to Bolo Echo shows, Dots etc has always sounded disappointing. Even plugging an echo using the headphone outs into the rear of a decent amp connected to good quality passive speakers sounded muddy. I also already had some pretty decent passive speakers that it seemed a shame not to make use of. For £299 I could hook up my older audio kit.When I read about this device being released it ticked all my boxes and in short I am very impressed with sound quality, ease of use and build quality. Setup was quick, firmware updates are seamless. The supplied remote control is great with a built in push-button microphone to control the Wiim using Alexa integration. This too works very well. You do not have to use the app on your phone to control the Wiim amp, but it is required for setup and updates.So I now have the Wiim amp connected to a pair of decent passive speakers, and the Wiim streams HD and Ultra HD music from my Bolo Music account (free 3 month subscription right now!). And it sounds brilliant. As good as my actual CD player. It can also stream FLAC files ripped from my old CD collection on a memory stick in the rear USB (yet to try this, only had it one day). Great if you have more obscure old CDs that are not streamed by Bolo.Special mention for the Wiim Home app - it just works really well, very neat. A nice feature is that you can install it on multiple android phones and they all retain independent control of the Wiim amp (ie my wife can use her phone to change what I is playing). They all show what is currently playing with album art, current audio quality, EQ etc.One other advantage for me is that the Wiim amp automatically goes to standby with a very low power usage when inactive (unlike my old amp that I would inevitably forget to switch off).One thing I have not managed to figure out is how to show what is playing on the Wiim amp on my old Echo Show. I have read it can be done using the Bolo Alexa app and setting up Combine speakers with Multi-room music (MRM) but this might compromise audio quality at the present time (I also read a fix to the lower audio quality when used this way is planned).If you buy this get a couple of AAA batteries for the remote (they are not supplied and you need the remote to complete setup).To summarise - amazing functionality, value and quality. Nothing not to like.Update: To address a few issues reported in other reviews:1. “In standby, the amplifier heats up and consumes about 8 W”. This was fixed in a recent firmware update. I read that the power usage in standby is now about 3W. In standby my Wiim Amp is only slightly warm to the touch.2. “there is a constant hum audible from the chassis”. My Wiim amp produces no audible hum in standby. On the Wiim forum Wiim Support stated “A very small number of units from our first manufacturing batch exhibit a low humming noise due to the power transformer. This issue has been resolved in subsequent batches. “.

I picked up the WiiM Amp in silver to power my JBL L52s, and I couldn’t be happier.Setup was quick and painless. The build quality is excellent, with the silver aluminium giving it a sleek, premium look that blends nicely into my setup.Sound quality is fantastic. The JBLs really come alive – clear highs, rich mids, and tight bass. I’ve pushed it pretty hard, and it stays clean without any distortion. Streaming is smooth and responsive, and the app integration works better than I expected.It’s compact, powerful, and looks great on the shelf. If you want a neat, modern amp that delivers both style and performance without breaking the bank, this one’s a winner.

A HiFi enthusiast for 45 years with so many bits of kit , I have lost count . This was bought to look good in the lounge and connect to good quality Monitor Audio speakers . So pleased with this purchase ! What cracking value . Acoustic tracks and vocals sing out with clarity . Stereo separation really amazing ! The bass is moderate but can be boosted on the App Eq which is versatile. Power seems to match the figures quoted . Excellent value for low and medium volume listening. It’s a bargain and really well constructed. Don’t debate , look for the price drops around Prime Days . App is excellent. Set up took 8-9 minutes . Bravo .

I tested this amp against my existing 50 year old Denon pma255uk which I’ve since found sounds very much like the newer Denon 600ne available at about £350.Between Denon and WiiM, I prefer the sound from the Denon and I like to have the hands-on volume and EQ controls (the amp is in my office so within arms length). The WiiM I found slightly annoying sound-wise but I couldn’t figure out why, it’s just less refined I think but it was improved by the room adjustments on the app. Connectivity-wise the WiiM is great, and its small footprint is brilliant for offices or small rooms, the WiiM is probably the best product I’ve ever returned for refund. In the end though I sought advice from Richer Sounds, demo’s some products and invested in new speakers instead (Klipsch RM50s) which for a similar price have transformed my listening experience.

This amplifier and streamer combined is great. I have added a Marantz Cd player and Dali speakers and the sound is excellent. Set up was straight forward - the toughest bit was opening the remote to insert batteries and tidying up the usual spaghetti junction of cables. To connect to Wifi you use the Wiim App. It dected my amplifier and network immediately and connection was established in seconds.What makes it so great is the Wiim Home App. It's a model of what an app should be, very easy to use and logically set up. I use mainly Bolo music and Spotify. The app has an amazing list of music services and radio services that are supported. To use Bolo you log in to your Bolo account on the Wiim app and then clicking on Bolo music brings up your music account with playlists etc. Spotify was even faster. The sound is great even on new speakers - I know from having another set of Dali speakers that the sound improves over time as the speakers are run in.With my other music system I was totally unable to get Alexa to discover my amplifier. After numerous attempts and a lot of bad language I bought an Echo Link which enabled me to stream Bolo Music. This time I rather expected similar problems but on opening Alexa I saw "New device detected" immediately and the Wiim Amp was already there. I didnot even have to ask Alexa to search for it. So I can use Alexa and can also cast from Bolo music as well as playing directly from the Wiim Amp itself.You do need the Wiim Home App to set up - it has numerous features which I haven't explored yet including equalisers, presets and an extensive help section which includes a comprehensive user manual.Overall I thoroughly recommend this amp and it comes at an amazing price - other manufacturers must be a bit worried!

Compact and Affordable: WiiM Delivers Quality Audio

I was looking for a compact amplifier to fit a small space in our bedroom for music and TV audio. The WiiM streaming amplifier caught my attention with its great reviews and budget-friendly price of under $240. I hadn’t heard of the brand before, but I’m impressed with its solid build quality and performance.Setup was straightforward, especially with the user-friendly WiiM app. The amplifier delivers good sound quality with plenty of bass options, and it has enough power to drive our bookshelf speakers and subwoofer effectively. I’ve streamed music from Apple Music and Bolo Alexa via Bluetooth, and it works flawlessly. While I haven’t tried its multi-room audio feature to broadcast music throughout the house, I’m happy with its audio capabilities for our needs.Overall, this amplifier offers excellent value for money, combining good quality and versatility at a reasonable price.

Veramente interessante (e potente)

Ero un po' spaventato dalle diverse recensioni che ne criticavano la scarsa potenza in uscita, ma ho deciso comunque di acquistarlo anche perché il panorama degli amplificatori compatti che abbiano tutte queste funzioni e davvero limitato. L'alternativa più simile è Bose, ma ovviamente al doppio del prezzo.Partendo dalla premessa, smentisco categoricamente chi dice che la potenza in uscita è insufficiente.Parliamo di un amplificatore digitale compatto con alimentatore integrato, dunque non è il tipo di prodotto che si utilizza in un rave party, o con diffusori di grandi dimensioni e scarsa efficienza.Il corretto utilizzo è sicuramente in accoppiata con monitor da studio di media dimensione, possibilmente con sub attivo (che è gestito da un'uscita sub dedicata).Io ho deciso di utilizzarlo con un sistema Bose Acoustimass 5 serie II restaurato (2 coppie di cubi e sub passivo). Suona brillantemente e a massimo volume il sub passivo viene spinto al limite, con dei bassi un uscita davvero prepotenti.L'applicazione con la quale viene gestito è semplice e ben fatta. Ottimo l'equalizzatore che permette una regolazione davvero precisa di ogni frequenza.Utilizzandolo con Spotify e Chromecast (è impostato come altoparlante definito di un Google Home) è davvero velocissimo nella risposta ai comandi, più veloce e preciso del Google home stesso.La qualità costruttiva mi sembra buona; esteticamente è molto bello.Se devo trovare dei difetti, i connettori banana non entrano completamente negli alloggiamenti (non mi spiego il motivo, davvero frustrante) e ho notato che scalda molto anche in standby.Sono molto soddisfatto dell'acquisto perché è esattamente quello di cui avevo bisogno.

Goede kwaliteit voor een prima prijs

Doet precies wat ik er van hoopte te mogen verwachten. Ik heb dit apparaat gekocht omdat ik een goede versterker zocht met Google cast. Deze versterker geeft meteen het gevoel dat je kwaliteit gekocht hebt. Hij ziet er erg mooi uit, voelt robuust, instellen gaat erg eenvoudig en het geluid is erg goed. Verder zitten alle benodigde kabels in de doos.

Tengo ya meses de uso con el dispositivo, al momento pienso que es una solución todo en uno muy buena, el software es de lo mejor que he visto, y constantemente esta actualizándose. La calidad del sonido mediante su DAC creo es muy bueno incluso mayor al precio al que pague, no esperen una calidad de sonido de competidores de marcas mas caras, sin embargo para Tidal o plataformas similares sobrepasa la calidad de audio.Nada es perfecto, y me hubiera gustado mas potencia de amplificación, es algo a considerar, no esperes que vas a poder mover con autoridad bocinas de mas de 100w. Otra cosa es que en uso continuo si se calienta, por el momento no he tenido ningún problema, pero a largo plazo pudiera darse el caso, yo le compre unas zapatillas para que tenga una mejor refrigeración y por el momento me ha funcionado.

It's small but packed with features like airplay and optical input. But do note that the USB does not seem to support reading the files on an iPod or iPhone. I plugged in my iPod touch 1 and my iPhone 12 and 15 into the USB port but the music is not detected, it can provide charging though, was a bit disappointed about that. It probably does not have a built in dac for the iPhone.
