Whilst on the waiting list for NHS fertility tests, this item became available to review, so it was an easy choice to make.This Sperm Count test is intended as a general guide for overall sperm count, and should not be done in replacement of a proper test from a GP/hospital. It contains: pot for sample collection; extraction syringe; mixing fluid; test cassette.Usage of the test is extremely straightforward - collect your sample in the provided pot; wait an hour; extract some of the sample using the included syringe; mix with the solution and deposit two drops onto the test cassette. Then wait 5 minutes for the results to appear.As mentioned in other reviews, viewing the results is very similar to the covid tests - one or two lines will appear in the result window, depending on the outcome.+ Very easy to use - the provided instructions/guidance are simple to read and very clear+ Everything is provided+ Interpreting the results is simple+ Having been for one NHS test, being able to give a sample in the comfort of your own home is a massive bonus!- This cannot be relied upon for a truly accurate read - it is an ideal first step though if you have questions over your fertility, and will give you some ammunition before seeing a GP.Advertised at £7.05, I think this is a small price to pay for either reassurance, or set you on the path to discovering any shortcomings in your fertility. It can't be relied upon for complete accuracy, but is a great first step. Recommended.

Unsure how accurate these are, fun to do when you aren’t trying for kids but I wouldn’t rely on these for serious medical results

This is basically a lateral flow test. Seems good, I did some research and one of the criticisms is that some tests use 20 million as the threshold, this uses the newly recommended 15m. I am not an expert, but most of the criticisms seemed to be that it’s limited and not a replacement for full testing, and people might make that mistake. But as long as you don’t treat it as that, I don’t see the issue? Cheap tests that can be done without a HCP have a niche. A friend of mine who is 10 years older and had issues told me not to wait to find out, be proactive as most people only start testing for fertility when they’ve already had issues, then it takes time to fix and drags on.It’s only going to test one aspect of fertility, i.e. sperm count, so it’s only going to answer the question “do I have any fertility problems” with a “yes, probably” or “maybe, but probably not sperm count.”
