5.0 out of 5 stars Test simple
As described
5.0 out of 5 stars Very helpful
I've been very dizzy and tired since having my baby and wasn't sure if it was just that I had a baby or something else. I started suspecting my iron levels were low as I have been borderline anaemic before. Super easy to use and interpret. 2 lines = iron is fine, 1 line = iron is low. Sorted!
4.0 out of 5 stars Single use blood test
It's simple enough to use if you don't mind taking a small finger prick of your own blood. It will be most useful for people going 'I wonder if..' and testing - if this shows you do have low iron levels, it's off to the GP where you'll be tested more regularly.
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Product
Worked as described, excellent product, saved me a GP appointment
1.0 out of 5 stars Nice kit but waste of money for me
This requires a LOT more blood than does a standard blood glucose finger prick. I initially couldn't draw enough blood to fill the pipette to the required level. By the time I had enough blood, the existing blood in the pipette had started to coagulate and it refused to draw any more in. I now have drips of blood down my shirt but not in the pipette! The kit has gone in the kitchen bin.
5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent instructions and a fast test result make this a great test
The worst moment of trying this iron Deficiency Anaemia Test Kit was the anticipation of the lancet. The lancets are push to trigger, rather than pressing a release button so there was a degree of the unknown as to when it would strike. That aside the kit was very well presented; easy to use and read the result. The instructions are excellent; written and with good diagrams on the included paperwork and online. It works a lot like a covid lateral flow test, only with blood not mucus. There are six steps.Wipe a fingertip with alcohol wipe to sterilise.Use the lancet to pierce the skinCollect blood with the capillary dropper up to a line on the dropper.Squeeze the dropper to release the blood onto the test kit.finally add a drop of buffer solution. Then 5 minutes later review the lines. In the end the pinch of the lancet lasted a fraction of a second and was forgotten as quickly. It was was deep enough to allow the capillary dropper to pull enough blood to do the test; it took a minute to collect enough blood in the dropper. Then 5-minute wait later and there were two lines on my test signifying all is normal. If you are worried about anaemia this is an affordable easy to use test.
5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to use, great for home testing
I got this as I had been feeling very tired of late and do have anemia but take iron tabs for that but still not feeling great. kit was easy to use and clear instructions & everything you needed. I cannot say how accurate it was unless I had recent had a blood test, mine results said I was fine. I think it is a good kit and at a good price , probably good to use as first test kit if you think you have an iron deficiency but I would say if you are really unsure go to a doctor
4.0 out of 5 stars Simple Anaemia Test
The kit has everything you need for a basic test, with instructions that are simple and easy to understand. During the pandemic I was part of a survey group, so I was accustomed to the procedure, which is very similar. The trigger needle for drawing a small amount of blood worked efficiently and while it will hurt for a split second, there was no residual soreness. You then add your blood and the catalyst solution together in a plastic tray and wait five minutes.I’ve long suspected that I suffer from periodic anaemia or low levels of iron, due to a vegetarian diet, which includes little intake of leafy greens, which I don’t overly care for. And so it proved to be - the test result was pretty damming, suggesting a clear iron deficiency. Not wishing to rush to my doctor, I’m now on a course of self-purchased iron tablets. Now, here’s an issue - the pack should include at least two test kits. In four weeks time I will need to test again, to check if the tablets have had an effect (although there may be physical indicators). I’ll have to buy another kit in readiness and then contact my surgery at that time, if the need arises. It should be added, that the kit does not provide the level of analytical detail, as that conducted by the medical profession.
