Darjeeling Himalayan First Flush Organic FTGFOP1 Premium Black Loose Leaf Tea (100g)

Description:

  • ORIGIN: This tea is grown in the Darjeeling district, in the foothills of the Himalayas in India. The weather conditions there are rather harsh, the air is foggy, with cold winters followed by wet and hot monsoon periods. These specific conditions contribute to the tea's distinctive characteristics.
  • ABOUT: Darjeeling Himalayan FTGFOP1 First Flush tea is a highly esteemed variety of Darjeeling tea, celebrated for its delicate and nuanced flavours. This tea is harvested during the early spring when the leaves are most tender. The tea, when brewed, has a delicate grassy and sweet aroma and taste.
  • BENEFITS: The leaves of Darjeeling tea contain polyphenols: powerful antioxidants. They may help fighting inflammation and stimulate good bacteria growth in the intestines โ€“ it is believed that this tea may also help maintain oral health.
  • USES: Best enjoyed when consumed without any additives (or with just little sugar or honey). Often paired with a light dessert.
  • BREWING: Allow 1- 1ยฝ teaspoon per cup. Boil the water and wait until the rumbling stops before pouring it onto the leaves. Steep for 3 minutes. The brewing time and water temperature can be adjusted based on personal preferences.

The tea is nice and I hope to buy more from this company, Iโ€™m not sure how to describe the taste other than satisfying and full bodied, I like the fact it comes from the Himalayas.

    1.0 out of 5 stars Mis-named!

If you like Darjeeling tea, then do not make the mistake of buying this tea. It is the exact antitheses of its description. "Sweet and grassy in taste, amber in colour - makes a delicate yet aromatic tea for the connoisseurs" is their description, it is harsh, bitter and deep black in colour. My wife only drinks Darjeeling and could not even drink one cup of this foul tasting brew.

    M. ยท 24 April 2024

100g of the first flush, loose leaf Darjeeling tea in an upright foil lined paper, resealable packet. To make, only use freshly oxygenated cold water brought to the boil and immediately pour onto the leaves in a pre-warmed teapot.I use a typically large UK teapot that acts like a cafetiere, in order to stop the brew from getting too strong for my taste. It is not at all akin to what is often known as 'Builder's tea.'This first flush Darjeeling tea retains a new fresh taste profile, of sweet young grass, almost a very mild spearmint taste.Later plucked Darjeeling, tends to be more rounded and mellow, whereas this is young, bright and distinct/sharper, on the tongue. It is refreshing and a perfect accompaniment to traditional finger cucumber sandwiches, etc.Only use a smidgen of semi-skimmed milk, so as not to smoother the tea's own taste. It leaves a pleasant tannin taste on the tongue afterwards.Darjeeling is processed as a black tea and has always been on the dearer side because it is harvested in the Himalayan region, which is not the easiest terrain to work in.It also produces distinguished teas.I have been a daily tea drinker for decades and you always get a better brew from the leaves, if you treat them with care and respect, the product rewards you back.

2.0 out of 5 stars It's not pure darjeeling tea leafs.

Tea is mixed with about 60-70% stumps. And also other tea leaves.I would not buy from this supplier.
