The KaeKid Astronaut Robot is pretty cute looking and seems quite sturdy. I had trouble unscrewing the battery compartment to connect the battery (it comes with the battery disconnected, you do only have to connect it the once, then you can charge it through the USB-C port). The screw seemed to just spin and spin. I used a flat-head screwdriver to pull it up while turning the screw and it then undid.My 9yo son thought the robot was quite amuzing and has periodically played with it for 10mins or so at a time. The only 'button' is the on/off one on the back, the rest are touch sensitive so it's tricky to know if it's registered the touch. We haven't been able to get the volume to go up/down which is a shame as it's quite loud. My son has particularly enjoyed recording his own message then 'driving' the robot to someone and getting it to announce the message to them! Mostly boy humour.I think it might have more longevity with a younger child but it's tricky to operate reliably which might be frustrating. However, for the price (£17.99) it's probably at the higher end of what I'd pay for it. I doubt it will be used loads and the novelty has already worn off quite a bit. Of course you can't expect the same level of interraction and responsiveness that you might get with a much higher priced robot toy.

The kids are gonna love this, basically a little robot that interacts to your voice as well as some touch sensitive parts and talks to you, records your voice for funny voice playback, does some little dances and moves around like a little dancing spaceman, it's just fun to watch and really good little value toy.The voice recognition for the commands was hit or miss, but then nothing understands my accent but even then, it's just fun to watch it go crazy dancing and the kids were giggling like mad with it.Wish it had more tunes, I think I heard 2-3, there funky enough, might start to grate tho be warned :)Fun little thing, kids will love it.

My son dropped this toy from a toddler height, and now it's nothing but a glitchy annoyance, it doesn't work, and I'm not shocked, it seemed flimsy and very plasticy, such a shame as for a week it was great fun

The media could not be loaded. This fun gadget responds to many voice commands and reacts, repeats and dances. You can also tap it in a couple of places for it to perform as well.I got this for a young nephew who will enjoy the fact it moves independently and that he can command it and have it engage with other toys when he’s playing. Thankfully the robot also has a sleep mode after a period of inactivity, so it will power down to a sleep mode without you having to remember to turn it off.Note that in the video, I've not screwed on the child-safe battery cover yet, as the video was made to show you how the robot 'behaves'.

So this is a voice controlled astronaut , when you first get it out the box , you have to fit the rechargeable battery and stick it in the back , but it can satay there as luckily to recharge it there is an external USB socket which you can charge it from with the lead they supply.There is one button on the back which is the power button to turn it on and off , when turned on green leds light up behind his visor , you can then place it on the floorUsing the instruction booklet you can use certain voice commands to make it do different movement's and activities.When first turned on it was pretty obedient but as time when on it didn't always do what I asked and had a mind of its own ! , you do have to let it finish its routine before you speak another command apparently as it tells you this , but I can see this being a problem trying to get small kids not to call out commands until its finished its last command ?You then have other ways of controlling it and changing settings which is touch points over its body , this is a bit hit and miss too which can be frustrating when try to change settings, plus when you pick it up you can accidentally touch a touch pointIt has a record feature where it will record what you say and play it back , and listen and repeat what it hears .I thought the dancing and singing command's were quite fun .However all that aside , my two granddaughters thought it was great and laughed and played with it for a long time , so it was worth getting in my eyes and currently at £13.99 it is a reasonable price

Hard to control
3.5 starsThis operates mainly by voice control, only it's not exactly great. You have to speak loudly, enunciate VERY carefully, and hope it hears you. Plus, each command can trigger several different possible reactions, so you never know for sure how it's going to react.
