5.0 out of 5 stars Great Device

    W.W. · 11 June 2025

Was fed up of ISP provided routers being terrible, so decided to bring work home and configure my home network myself. This gateway is fantastic for building and managing your own internal home network. It is very intuitive with all aspects and has realtime updates on your network. Fantastic bit of kit.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic router for Gigabit internet connections.

    A.C. · 24 April 2025

For the price this router is amazing. It can comfortably route gigabit connections with IDS and IPS enabled. The build quality is excellent which is to be expected from a company like ubiquiti. I would recommend this product to anybody who has an Internet connection of one gigabit or less. It does not have Wi-Fi built-in. This is purely a router and it does that job very very well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Quality bit of kit!

    T. · 16 June 2025

Quality, easy to set up, works really well, looks great and discreet. Coupled with ubiquiti's seamless software and security, makes for a substantial product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great product, really impressed. Upgraded from a network hosted client and the original USG

    R.S. · 31 August 2024

Had been using a network based version, running in proxmox. Which had been great and I later added the USG as my router. This version allows me to upgrade and have the software running on the device and is hopefully (seems to be) more reliable but also opens up more of the features, only possible when using the actual Unifi hardware.Important part for me was the ability to clone a MAC, so I can just add my ISP supplied fibre router MAC and it works, without having to ask the awkward ISP to allow it to be used. In my case there is no user/password, the router just self configures so long as the MAC is the one the ISP is expecting.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, powerfull, simple to use.

    F. · 4 March 2025

Excellent home networking solution with great admin software giving details visibility and control of home networks. Supports multiple lanes, and with associated mesh WiFi, multiple ssids. Simple to administrate.

4.0 out of 5 stars Annoying setup, but a fine product when done

    h. · 3 August 2024

Got this to replace an old USG-3P, the power brick (and possible USB stick) of which died. I had to change the DHCP IP range, but would otherwise just upload my old config from my self-hosted console, but I had to go through it's graphical nonsense, including coming up with a 12-character (temporary, I vainly hoped) password, skipping speed test, and accepting terms and conditions for a service I had deselected (the UI.com account). Sadly the user credentials for ssh must have changed and I was too lazy to search for them online.I'm not a fan of it forcing me to use the internal controller that's backed by a flimsy 16GB eMMC, I expect it will limit the lifespan of the device significantly (though it shouldn't be worse than the USB key in the USG it replaced), but I guess that's a good thing for Ubiquiti, and probably something I can give up hoping they will change their minds about.Restoring from my old console was a challenge. When you go to your UCG's website, you're presented with two independent UIs: One, represented by a round AP icon, is the controller. The other, represented by a rack mount server icon, being the "device UI" that you generally don't need to do much with. When restoring from the restore menu in the controller UI, there's no feedback that a restore is in progress, but it will work eventually. The 12 character password you picked earlier is still in effect, it doesn't restore the old password, but surprisingly all my devices were adopted quite quickly, even though the inform URL clearly changed. The display showing number of connected clients, etc, is gimmicky and a waste of money, that could appropriately have been used on screw holes to allow wall mounting. All that said, the migration was an hours time with minimum outage and it's nice knowing I now have add'l headroom. When I update my other USG, I should be able to use wireguard between the two sites instead of IPsec (through SD-WAN, site-to-site VPN still only offers IPsec and OpenVPN).I hope, but don't trust, that this router will last the six years that my old USG did.

I’ve been in tech 20 years in enterprise networking. This is incredible, 1gbs native networking with all security enabled! This was only possible with higher end Cisco, Aruba, fortinet gear only a few years ago with appliance that cost £1000s. Unbiquity have managed this at under £130 with no licensing or any overhead costs. Truly a game changer. If I could give it more than 5 stars I would.I’ve bought one of these for myself, my parents and my sister so I can manage all the family networks in one dashboard.

It started with a couple AP's managed via a Raspberry PI, added an EdgerouterX when a prior Security Gateway turned out to be not so secure. With a local available upgrade to gigabit internet service, it's again time to upgrade for the higher throughput, plus this cloud gateway ultra bundles Unify the management tasks with some security functions the EdgerouterX isn't quite as good at.Instant plusses include no-subscription access to a listing of known-bad sites to block, with a few levels of filtering available. It also supports VLANs natively, a nice feature that lets me segregate business, entertainment, and guest access pretty easily. The Unify console manages more than enough Ubiquiti devices to support our SOHO operations with two separate professional service businesses operating out of our home. The capabilities list includes multiple options for VPN access, which when paired with the VLAN capabilities completely isolates the two businesses and the rest of our home needs. Al in a compact and low-power package that lives in my server closet.I'm still learning all the capabilities, but plenty of info and support is available through Ubiquiti's own support resources and a fairly robust online user support base. So far I'm pleased with how it's working and how easy it is to configure. If you are working on a system that demands security and performance well beyond what my ISP describes as, [cough], "robust", but don't care to go all the way to a Meraki or similar with a subscription model, this may be the answer for you. At barely over $100, it's a fraction of the cost of those Cisco options even without the subscription costs added on. After some of the hard-coded backdoor access options revealed in our last 'security' gateway, I'm a little skittish about a few of the other mid-grade pro-sumer options available now. After a few years with the Edgerouter, I'm pretty comfortable staying in the Ubiquiti product family, especially with being able to consolidate so many functions into the one little package. Are you looking for a more secure and comprehensive upgrade from typical consume routers and wifi products? Got a range of user access needs? Got a small to medium business where you want to closely maintain user access and security for both staff and guests? This may be your answer. It has been for us so far.

I have more than 100 IOT and was very frustrated with my set-up (asus mesh). The 2.4 band keep disconnecting all the time. Impossible to find on many iot i could use with Asus. I concluded i had to go more professional products. Well it works after weeks i can say no more disconnect. I also bought Unifi AP for indoor and one for Outdoor. I strongly recommend the Unifi products. Be warn it is a bit more complex product than a standard mesh system (It needs a lot more reading).

finally my entire house runs on Ubiquiti!
