This testing set is ok, but don't use it to self diagnose-If you suspect something is wrong, always see a doctor instead of trying to guess it yourself. This kidney function test is good, but also limiting as it only checks for "creatinine, protein, and specific gravity". A proper test will investigate more areas and may be accompanied by other tests at the same time too. On the other hand, if you have been told you have potential issues in one of those areas, you can use it to monitor your levels and at a fairly reasonable price. In the pack you get 5 test strips which you dip in and then compare the colours to find out your results. It does the job but is a little tricky trying to exactly distinguish between the subtle colour changes-Not bad for £8

5 urinalysis strips to test for kidney function. The heading also mentions kidney infections. These strips would not help you if you are trying to detect a urine infection really, for those you need a full urinalysis strip although you might get a clue if you have protein in your urine. Really you need nitrates or leucocytes to demonstrate white cells and possibly blood.These also aren't ideal for testing kidney function, usually you are looking for haematuria blood in urine as well as protein. So these are a bit of a strange mix. I have no idea why they have included specific gravity for instance.Anyway, there are 5 strips individually wrapped in the packet, I have now used two and each time I have a small amount of creatinine but I am unconvinced, the colour came up immediately and I might try a test just with water.My conclusion here is these tests are expensive and really don't tell you very much. You would be better off going to see your GP or buying strips which contain about 12 different parameters to test. And then go to your GP.

Easy to use with simple instructions to follow. You get 3 test strips in the pack and it is all done at home. Dip the rest strip in a urine sample and wait 60 seconds before comparing it to the included chart. Unable to comment on how accurate it is as haven't done a different version of the test.

These arrive in a box with instructions, results information and the colour comparison chart (not as shown - it's 3 tests only).They are individually packaged.They are 'fine'... but in my view, having used them, I think if you are interested in testing your own urine for health you'd be as well to buy a pot of the wider-range urine test strips, which also include the limited information you get from these.The seller's page shows a photo of a 'comparison chart' but you are not testing all of those things with these strips - just 3 pretty basic elements. You can buy a tub with 100 urine test strips covering a much wider range of tests for less/similar money as this pack of 4.I thought, based on description and price, these might give more targeted information, but they are basic - Creatinine, Protein, and Specific Gravity don't tell you that much. You could also do with checking eg blood in your urine which most other urine test strips do.

Self-diagnosing health issues is always a minefield; I've often told my widowed worried-well 87 year old mother that if she keeps using the internet to discover what's wrong with her, one day it will convince her she's pregnant.Nevertheless test kits like this can be very useful if you know that your lifestyle or genes might lead you into problems, and might be just the wake up call needed to persuade you into changes. Kidney disease is insidious and nasty, so catching any problems early is never going to be a bad thing.This kit will alert you to any concerns very simply and easily - as long as you follow the instructions precisely and use it in a well lit room. Colour changes can be very subtle so this is important, as is following up any concerns with a qualified medical professional.It's otherwise very easy to use and delivers the results rapidly, so I'd certainly recommend it if you have concerns or simply need your mind setting to rest.
