I finally found a nail clipper that works well for my sheepdog-italian maremma. I had ordered one in the past, but it didn’t cut properly. This one however, is sharp, sturdy, and easy to handle. It clips cleanly and quickly, which makes a big difference when dealing with thick nails like my sheepdog’s. Really happy with this purchase!

I have flown to review these god-send clippers after using them on our elderly border terrier who had not let us near his claws for 5 years since we stopped going to the groomers. He likes home stripping well enough but just wasn’t having any claw cutting after I once used another brand of cutter and he went berserk. But I had to do something as they were getting so long so I did my research and I’m just so glad I chose these. I ordered the small/medium for his breed and they are quite dinky, about half the size of the previous ones, and an absolute dream to use. Claws were as tough as old boots but these powered through easily. The safety guard is good to have. Also the instructions on the back of the packet were really useful. Happy dog, happy me. I just can’t recommend enough. 5 stars are not enough.

Dog nail clippers are strong and appear to be well made compared to some I have seen. Also has a built in guard to regulate how much nail you cut off, which is most important if your dog keeps fidgeting while you are trying to cut their nails. Top notch product.

If your dog is a bit of a wriggle-monster when it comes to claw clipping, then these could just be the clippers for you.I'd always used the older guillotine style claw cutters, which worked pretty well for me over several generations of dogs - until the latest arrival, that is! She's supposed to be 100% pure-bred Pointer, but I've got a notion there's a touch of conger-eel in her DNA somewhere. That slippy, wriggly, twisty manoeuvre doesn't strike me as entirely canine in origin. Anyway, after one or two cuts rather closer to the quick than I'm at all happy about (squick!) I looked around to see if I could find anything that would stop the claw going so far into the cutters at exactly the wrong moment, and came across these little beauties, with their well designed guard plate to do just that.I did what you're doing - read the reviews carefully before buying - because there are am awful lot of clippers out there and they do, let's be honest, all look much the same. I can't speak for any of the others, and I don't work for Thunderpaws, but I do know that these have consistently done the job for me ever since, without the fear of cutting too far into the nail, and made life easier for both me and my mutt, who now seems way more laid-back about the whole prospect of a manicure (or should that be a dogicure?) as a result. Either that, or those eel genes are fading...Bottom line, if you're looking for a set of robust, well made clippers that allow you to clip safely, then you really can't go far wrong with these.

Not overly impressed. I bought the small nes because I have JRT puppies and not only does the nail file not stay in its slot where it should live but the blue button covering the tightening screw keeps popping off, and with 3 puppies I have to be quicker than them picking the file and cover up or its in their mouth and out in the garden. The weight is fine and its easy enough to use. So long as you leave the file in the drawer then functionality will be fine, the nail gard is a great idea too. Overall opinion, would I buy again? probably not based on what I know now, however this could very well be a one off pair with issues.
