5.0 out of 5 stars High quality dish rack
I hoped this kitchen dish rack would be good quality and I was right, it is superb quality - the type of item that will last. The first thing to say it that it is that the metal parts are made of stainless steel and so are resistance to rust - this is usually where any dish rack that has metal parts will eventually let you down.Aside from the 'rack' there is a clip-on plastic cutlery caddy which is great. On the other side there are five silicon tipped prongs that are great for cups but I also use to hold my chopping board upright to drain(it's excellent for this). The entire rack sits above a sloped plastic drain tray that redirects all the draining water to your sink. All the plastics are high quality and are dishwasher safe so it's all very easy to keep clean. This is an expensive dish rack but that reflects that it is made with high quality materials.I've no hesitation in recommending this easy to keep clean, smart looking, well thought out and evidently durable dish rack. I'm really happy with it.
3.0 out of 5 stars Good quality
It is good quality, but for the price, I expected a better designed item.
4.0 out of 5 stars Good quality with a couple of downsides
Kitchen Aid is a well-respected brand, and this is a well-made dish drainer.I have the small one - it's perfect for 1 person, just about okay for 2 people (2 large plates, 2 small plates, 2 dishes, 2 cups or glasses) but if you have a family it's going to be too small. The photo is deceptive - the main photo is for the bigger drainer, not the smaller one - so there is no extendable draining mat, no extra space for glasses on the smaller one.It is good quality, but for the price, I expected a better designed item. What I don't like:I use this on top of my draining board, which means that when you are using the draining hooks for cups and glasses, they are at risk of being knocked off and on to the floor. So I don't tend to use these - although the part of the tray in front is a useful and safe place to put long knives. The plastic draining board holds water, so it needs to be cleaned daily or it gets yukky and smells of stale water.
4.0 out of 5 stars clever and compact, the small one is probably not big enough for your average family though
This is a nice, well-made, quality piece of kit. It is reasonably well thought out and, as much as these things can, makes washing-up as easy as possible.I personally find it a little small for my family home (2× adults, 2× children) but it is perfect for my daughter at university. The product is clearly put together well and will last for quite a while with a bit of luck.I think it's slightly overpriced, but then again with Kitchen Aid, I guess you always pay a little bit more for the name… It's usually worth it to be honest.Anyway, nice product.
4.0 out of 5 stars Decent quality
It's a top-quality built dish rack. It seems sturdy and of decent quality. The finishing is also excellent; I don't see any sharp edges. I have ordered 40.8cm x 32cm x 15cm, which is a nice compact size; it seats perfectly next to my kitchen sink and is perfect for my needs. It keeps the dishes, bowls, and glasses nice and secured. The drain board underneath does a great job draining the water into the sink.I have been using this rack for two weeks now; it is premature to comment on its longevity. If there is anything worth mentioning, I will update my review. As lovely as this is, I feel it is a little overpriced for what it is, but I'm sure the price will adjust over the coming weeks.I hope this review helps you to make a purchasing decision.
Works nicely for the sink in my tiny kitchen
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } I was unsure about which size to purchase, but I am glad I went small. It takes up very little space on my counter, and it is large enough to hold all the dishes one or two people are likely to use in meal preparation and dining. At first glance, the cutlery holder looked disproportionately large, but after using it a couple of times, I liked it. The drain tray is easy to remove and rinse off.Although I have not owned this item long enough to comment on its durability, it is attractive and appears to be sturdily made.
Great Product!
I waited a bit to write a review. After a month of use this dish rack has proved to be exactly what I wanted. It drains nicely, holds all the usual dishes for our two person household and cleans up very easily. I had no issues putting it together, in fact, there is not much to put together except to be sure the actual drain board is placed correctly under the drying rack. Simple as can be really. Because the drying rack is all aluminum I expect it will last as long as i need it to without rusting. Worthy purchase for sure.

compact version is great if you don't need much capacity
The compact, aluminum version of this premium-priced dish drainer is a great choice if you're space constrained... and you're sure you'll never store more than a couple of people's worth of dishes at a time.I picked this unit because my larger dish drainer took up an inordinate amount of space for never being totally full, and then developed a leak in its swivel spout. This Kitchenaid, by contrast, has a simplified design that puts the drain dish at an angle, no spout to break. What I really like:* Clean Design* Aluminum so none of the usual rust complaints* Drain dish can be adjusted separately from the top rack* Very small, about a breakfast for 2 amount of space* Drains easily (make sure you angle it correctly)Things to consider:* You'll need to empty it once per meal* It's too shallow to balance any large items like cutting boards inside* The utensil compartments are also shallow. That's a 3.5" paring knife in my picture, and the blade is almost exposed.Concerns:* The bottom drain dish stains fairly easily, but so far has scrubbed clean.* The aluminum frame runs lengthwise, but there's plastic cross-pieces that hold it together which may be less sturdy. Would prefer those were engineered plastic or aluminum.* It's really expensive for a small dish drainer.Overall, I'm still happy with my purchase and it was a little cheaper than the simple human design. I'll update if my experience changes. Recommended.
Has to be cleaned regularly
This review is for the small (17) aluminum rack. I appreciate the compact size and sturdiness of this rack; it works well for our limited counter space. However, I don't think the tray that drains water is well designed. It it is not angled enough, and so water sits on the tray. Unless your dishes are spotless you'll have to regularly clean the tray which (mostly) defeats the puropse. I wish this aspect had been tested in real life before manufacturing.
