A great gift for an 8 year olds birthday. Lots of fun digging the fossils out and then looking them up in the book.

My 7 year old grandson loves these excavation sets, have purchased several for him over the last few years, can make a bit of a mess but we use a craft washable table cloth. Not opened it yet as bought it to use in half term. Very educational and has given him a great interest in different stones and fossils.

This was a gift for the 7th birthday of a son of a dear friend, and her son is MAD about fossils....and he absolutely loved it! If you know a child that's interested in archaeology or fossils or science....this is a great gift. I bought something similar for my godchildren nearly 20 yrs ago, and they loved it too. It gives them time to enjoy something; anticipation & excitement of what they might find; teaches patience...and creates more memories than just sitting in front of a screen. Money well spent for the smiles & happiness it brought...not only for the child but the family sharing that moment with them.

My granddaughter was keen to use this. How ever the ‘plaster like’ block the fossils were in was very hard and the plastic tool with the kit was not up to the job. We used two screwdrivers to open up the plaster.The information booklet was useful but there were no instructions on how to break up the block to get to the fossils.

we were actually amazed how good this was! kids were excited looking for real fossils, they spent 2 hours digging them out, brilliant for those who love dinasaures and fossils
