Great hub! Well built and stylish with all the connections that you could ever need. I'm impressed with the HDMI port. Game changer! No complaints.
Quite possibly the most powerful port expansion I've ever bought
Works very well. Picked up by both my laptop, my android phone, and even my Helio64 NAS, tested HDMI display and multiple USB devices including mouse keyboard and multiple USB storage devices. Was pretty nice seeing my android phone detect multiple external drives at once, including an external SSD, flash drive, 3.5 inch HDD, and SD card all at once. I didn't expect that to work, but it did!
DOES NOT WORK WITH NINTENDO SWITCH
My partner has a Nintendo Switch Lite while I have a regular Nintendo Switch. I read that the Switch Lite can be connected to a different screen using AC adaptors, and this product claimed it was compatible with the Nintendo Switch. I decided to first test it on my regular Nintendo Switch, but it doesn't work at all. I can hook up my phone and such just fine, but not the Nintendo Switch. Unfortunately, that means this product is useless to me. It's a fine adaptor otherwise... just don't advertise about it being Nintendo Switch-compatible!!
No HDMI out on any of the devices I tried
I wanted to love this hub but the HDMI port appears to be dead on all the device, display, and HDMI cable combinations I tried. I tried this hub on a Samsung Galaxy Tab A7, a Nintendo Switch and a Google Pixel 3. I saw no video output from any of the devices connected to the three different displays I used (Samsung 1080P HD TV, Panasonic 1080P Plasma TV, Dell 1080P touch screen display). I tried each device and display combination with 4 different HDM cables all with the same results. I get it, stuff happens and we occasionally get a bum device. So I set up a return to a same item replacement. Disappointingly, the replacement behaves no differently than the first. Ultimately it’s all but useless to me without working HDMI—disappointing to say the least.
Not everything you need in an all in one hub, but close
I was searching for and all-in-one type-c device that could replace all of my needs in one device. This looked like a good option. It had everything except for an Ethernet port (I have no use for a VGA or Display Port). But since Ethernet is so rarely needed I thought I could just hang on to my other device that. I liked that it had only type 3 USB ports for the legacy Type A jacks. Makes no sense to cling to USB 2 these days. And I liked that it had the SD card slot built in, which I assumed would give me a faster read rate than my old external type 2 adapter. I found that the HDMI adapter is one of the best that I've run across. I have a rather finicky input to my receiver and this one supported it quite well. It also didn't get nearly as hot as the single purpose adapters which because of their smaller shell, don't dissipate the heat as well as this one does. The price seems to be very good for all that it offers.But I stopped short of giving it a five-star rating because the SD Port read is extremely slow. In fact, if I put my SD card in my type 2 adapter and plug it into the USB port (pictured), it has a faster read rate. So that was very disappointing. I also found that the type C port run at a drastically reduced speed than the type c ports directly from the computer. Also this port will not recognize my phone so I'm still stuck with having to use the ports on the computer for that. So while it's better than no type C port at all, it's not really a full pass through as I had expected.
It’s in the bin. Don’t bother
The hub only recognized one SD card at slot at a time and the full size SD card slot takes over from the micro SD card slot if you insert a Micro SD first. If two cards are inserted, only one will be recognized and it seems to be the full-size card slot that takes precedence. This is unexpected and unfortunate.The USB-C port does not seem to work at all. I plug-in in my iPad and it was not recognized. I tried the usb-c cord in both orientations (which shouldn't matter anyway) and it the port still acted dead. I plugged the iPad into a usb-c port on my MacBook the iPad started to charge and showed up in Finder (file explorer for Windows users).The usb-c charging port PD works fine for charing my MacBook.I tried the usb3.0 ports with the pad as well. The iPad was recognized and showed up in Finder, but did not charge, "not charging" showed up on the battery level icon. I tried this with both the power plugged in through the usb-c power port and without it. No difference in the way it worked.My final test was the HDMI port. It works fine. But at this point I am done with this device. This thing is junk from the start. Is in the trash can waiting pickup Thursday morning.Don't buy it. Look for any number of other usb-c hubs and go with them.This gets 1 star only because that is the lowest I can go.
