Both start essentially invisible. The UV area darkens with exposure to all types of UV. This is pretty sensitive - both UV lamps I have (one nearly invisible to the naked eye) make this darken fairly rapidly. Taking it outside does the same from sunlight. Once UV is taken away the area fades to white again after a little while.The UV-C area glows only when in exposure to UV-C light radiation (it doesn't stay dark like the other area). None of the lamps I have will trigger this, which is a good indication they're not so dangerous to skin exposure.These are very useful to make sure e.g. that UV sterilisation lamps are actually emitting UV-C and not just UV-A or UV-B which won't kill bugs in the same way. Useful little cards (approx 1x2"), and come in a multipack. They can be reused, so one set should keep you going for a while.
