5.0 out of 5 stars Great straight to the point book best practices handbook for design Engineers
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } Great book mostly being a combination of best practices and tradeoffs of design choices with explanation of where it came from and why. Pretty concise of just over 200 pages only taking around 10 hours to fully digest. Will be kept on my desk for future projects. I learnt a lot being relatively new to electronics industry (1 year post MEng EEE) but would be useful reference text to experienced Engineers.

Es un libro que funciona si eres experto o estas comenzando.
One of the best book for Hardware Design Engineers
In general books which explain hardware design concepts are very less and they are not for practical designs.I believe this book is written by a a person who as sound knowledge in real world design. He did his best in this book to convey his knowledge and experience.
No time to lose!
I loved this book because it goes straight to the point! No frills at all. The author is almost rude with such direct writing, but I liked the style. It is a fast-paced reading, as the text is very objective and could probably be converted into a list of bullet points for even quicker reference. Good images and tables help understand and remember key topics, too. Still, the author brings about 200 citations if you wish to check their suggestions in more detail.I’m a Mechatronics Engineer and have been working for almost 15 years with embedded systems design for medical equipment, especially hardware design. While I know about a fair amount of the topics covered here, there were many new tips I didn’t know or thought of.The author strongly focusses on robust design and practical advice that can be readily applied to real world problems and products, showing what to do and what not to do. Design for manufacturing and testing are also covered. If you work professionally on embedded systems and want to improve your designs, I’d strongly recommend reading this book. Even experienced engineers should have new insights from it. It’s a good reference book to have in the lab, so you can take a quick look while designing new products. The contents are clearly identified so it's easy to check a topic you’re working on.
Learn from experienced practitioners to avoid making costly mistakes in your designs
This is a very useful book for anyone involved in developing electronic circuits for production. Matthew Berger is evidently an experienced practitioner and the caveats presented in this book stem from long years of experience.Don't expect a list of ready-made recipes, however. The main purpose of this book is to make the reader aware of potential pitfalls involved with a particular component or a particular use case, as well as provide some guidance as to how to avoid them. Wisely, the author recognizes that there likely won't be a "one size fits all" solution to each particular issue and thus carefully avoids presenting any "easy fixes".The sections are short and to the point, with tables and schematics for additional clarity, as well as a comprehensive list of references. Be aware that there is a fair bit of jargon in this book, as it is clearly not an introduction to electronics but aimed at experienced readers instead.
Learn from his experience
Haphazard yet comprehensive list of things to look out for. If you've designed much, you've made one of these mistakes. Really wish it had an index or a ebook version that is searchable though.
