(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } We have some echo dots and wanted to upgrade to an echo show for the kitchen, so we can talk to family, see whose at the door after we connect the ring bell to the show.It's set up was easy, as we had dots already Bolo offered to make the set up easier, all we did was plug it in connect to the router and it picked up the rest, when you play music it writes up what's playing, it's volume goes much louder than the dots it's much clearer for those with poor hearing the sound quality is also much better too, it might seem costly but it's well worth it for the improvement we've found, the only problem we have found is that it doesn't always stop when you tell it to, it miss hears commands, sometimes we have to switch it off and on to rectify the lack of rme sponse, otherwise my husband would be at a loose end without it.It's compact the screen is large enough to see clearly, it looks good we chose black as white in a kitchen would for ever need cleaning, I have found that because it can link with the dots with in our house it can turn on or off alarms & lights being controlled by another dot, brilliant fit controlling Alexa controlled plugs bulbs etc so if you forget to turn it off the show will do it when you request it.

This is my first experience with Alexa and I'm loving it. Lots of good things to say about the echo show 8; good sound quality, voice recognition is perfect, the camera quality is also very good. You can connect to other cameras around the house and "drop in" on the alexa app. You could watch movies on Bolo, Netflix, and even YouTube on the echo show 8.

I never thought having a screen in the kitchen would make a difference but it does. As a speaker alone, it’s pretty impressive. At full volume it sounds better and louder than it has any right being. This tiny sub woofer packs a punch. The screen itself is bright and clear for the price point and fairly quick at responding. There are limited apps like prime video, music, clock, calendar, picture frame, etc, but any streaming service can be accessed via the web browser which is incredibly quick and responsive for watching iPlayer and the rest. It was a long wire so can be moved around depending on where you need the screen.I thought this would be an eyesore but the picture frame mode helps it blend away (with your own pictures or presets like travel and nature), and the pictures brighten up the room. It also has a camera for checking in when I’m not there (a simple slide hides the camera). I’ve owned a fair number of Bolo products but this is so far my favourite. Interested to see where this range goes. Upgraded from an echo dot and this was easy to set up.

I have the previous show 8 ( and 5) and a fairly integrated smart home. I used my previous echo 8 for both traditional and Smart Control.As a result of expanding security I wanted a second 8 in a different location. I thereforeTook the opportunity to purchase the latest versionFirst the size and look is similar to the previous version (camera position buttons and shape of back different) but I think it looks goodThe stereo separation is not great but good enough for background music. However The sound is surprisingly good for the price and acts well as a focus speaker in a room- I’m using mine with two stereo pairs of dots. POV it’s about time Alexa released stereo with centre channel capabilities, if this were available it would act as great centre speakerIt’s certainly big enough to show all of your favourite smart applications and vidsfunctionality is very close to the previous version, and the sound is slightly different but IMO neither better nor worseThings I don’t like so much is clock display choices is not as good as the 5 as the 8 (previous and new gen’s) don’t have the option to just show a simple large clock when on standbyA really annoying change is that both 8 gens have magnetic bases for attaching a stand or wall Mount but the shape is different so they areNot interchangeable- possibly only an annoyance if like me you are upgrading and want to use existing wall mount !Finally do I think it’s value for money? Yes, depending on what you want to use it for. The functionality is good when used as a smartHome controller and As a small monitor and general background speaker it functions wellAlso.I think it as good or better than the other well known smart assistants out there, however don’t buy at regular price as these like most other Alexa devices are frequently on offer- buy it then and it’s a steal.I would definitely recommend, but only if on offer

I previously had an echo show 5 - horrible and a waste of money. As soon as I received the echo 8, I knew I wouldn't be disappointed and I was right. The best upgrade ever, screen is big, connectivity is perfect and super fast. Love it. Got a white one as it matches with my furniture. It looks so chic!

A vast improvement over the Show 5 first gen we have, so much more responsive is quite a bit bigger size wise than 5 though. Sound is again a massive improvement for bass.

My daughter loves her Alexa and has it plugged in all the time. She loves asking it questions and playing her music and even plays some of the games on it.The screen is a really good size and the graphics are good too.
