A detailed review for anyone thinking of buying but are unsure if it will be suitable for their purpose/location or wants to know more details. For those who just want a quick overview, only read this paragraph.  We're very happy with this and feel it's good quality and very sturdy for a flatpack item.  All pieces arrived well packed and undamaged.  (It comes in two parcels and the furniture part is heavier than the electric fire when lifting the boxes.)  The hardware to fix it together was all there, as well as a spare of each screw/fixing etc - very thoughtful.  The fire has a remote control and the ability to choose from 4 flame settings (basically from bright, stepping down to dim).  Note that the instructions say the fire is only for occasional use and is not suitable as the primary heat source.  Very pleased and can recommend it.  (Have not tried it with heat yet due to a heatwave at the time of writing, but mostly wanted it for the cosy flame effect!)  You can see the flame effect in my video clip, with the flame on its brightest setting.Delivery:  When ordering you're given a 2 day estimated delivery window by Bolo.  I ordered when the delivery window fitted days that suited me.  Ordering on a Monday gave an estimated delivery of Thursday-Friday.  The next day (Tuesday) an Bolo email said it had been despatched and was arriving Friday.  I didn't check the tracking since the email said it was arriving Friday, so intended to check back on Thursday.  On Wednesday I had a "sorry we missed you" slip through the door (UPS had tried to deliver 2 days earlier than expected).  Delivery was going to be reattempted the next day, but I was then able to go online using the details on the slip and change the delivery day.  Quick turnaround, but wanted to mention this to save anyone having the same issue as you don't get a UPS notification email.The unit itself consists of 18 pieces, all labelled for easy identification and there's an instruction booklet with illustrations.  The fixings include cam locks, cam bolts, wooden dowels, two lengths of screws, pins for the shelves, clamps and tiny pieces of foam to hold the strip light in place, tiny rubber feet, plus the mood light strip and connect wire.  The light strip cable clips into the electric fire, so runs on the same power as the fire and can be operated by the remote.  There was also a sheet of small round stickers resembling the grain of the wood which we didn't use (maybe to cover screw holes/unused shelf holes?).  The only tool needed is a screwdriver (Phillips type) - we used two sizes.  It took approx 1.5 hours for one person to assemble with no issues, then 20 minutes extra to screw the fireplace into the unit with the fixing brackets and screws provided with the fire - a bit fiddly with small screws and big hands, but otherwise the assembly of the unit was easy enough.  The instructions advise against plugging it in to a switching device such as a timer or a circuit which is regularly switched on and off, in order to avoid a hazard due to the inadvertent resetting of the thermal cut out.  It also says not to locate the fire immediately below a socket outlet.  The fire comes with a separate instruction manual.  If you're standing the finished unit on carpet you'll find it really easy to position/slide across the carpet (and for this reason we didn't bother attaching the tiny rubber feet).  The height of the side shelves can be adjusted.This info may be useful if you want to stand a TV on top and have a DVD/Blu Ray/TV box on the shelf underneath.  We wanted to do this until we saw how nice the shelf looked illuminated and decided it would look much nicer used for display purposes.  We just about found space on the top for the Blu Ray and TV box as well as the TV in the end, but that may depend on the type of TV stand you have and how tall your players are!  The back panel behind the shelf is solid like the rest of the unit (not thin hardboard, which some cheap flatpacked bookcases have).  The cutout for the mood lighting cable to feed through to the back is only tiny (basically a tiny corner of the panel sawn off).  If you did want to put a player or other electrical item on the shelf, if it had a thin cable and you could remove the plug or thread the cable through during assembly, you may just get away with using the cutout.  For more than that you'd probably need to either drill a separate hole or enlarge the cutout by sawing more of the corner off on the back panel.  (Bear in mind many appliances have their plugs hardwired to the cable these days).  Also, if intending to place a DVD player or similar on the shelf, when measuring up ensure the shelf is deep enough to take the depth of it plus any connector plugs that might protrude from the back of the device, otherwise the player may overhang the front of the shelf.   A cautionary note:  When assembling, you start off by making a square C shape with the long upright side panels that eventually house the side shelves.  Do not accidentally lean over while you're assembling to grab something and put weight on these when they're unsupported.  A momentary distraction caused us to bear weight on these, which resulted in a cracking sound as the panel partially came away from its fixings, which could then not be screwed back together as snugly!  Luckily it was a piece from the back left side, and was held in place and strengthened when attached to the heavy top and bottom plinths!

The media could not be loaded. I bought this as I wanted a focul point for my living room. I miss having a fire so much so I got this hoping it would look comforting when it was gloomy outside (as it has been this summer) and would make my living room look homely and cosy and it does. I love it. I had to get my son in law and his friend to build it but they said the instructions were easy enough to follow. I walk into the room now and there is a lovely glow from the imitation fire. The fireplace looks lovely Well worth the money.

had to buy glue for the dowels as none supplied and 4 holes damaged in transit . Over came the problems and now have a lovely fire at a reasonable price very pleased with the end result.

Absolutely love this fire. I love the size, the colour, the storage. I love how it warms up so quickly. I love the display light in the shelf, the dimmable fire and the 2 heat settings. I love that it doesn't cost alot to have on either. I love how solid it is and I even loved watching my 2 sons build it realising they put pieces on backwards and had to start again.My fire came quickly and with no issues. Clear and precise instructions. It came in 2 heavy boxes. And it was £200 cheaper than another shop i was looking at. Great value for money.
