I have a 1 and 3 year old and they both enjoy playing this. Very engaging for the older one who loves his vehicles. Good quality, very colourful and just an all round fun family game.

Muddy Trucks has been a brilliant addition to our Orchard Toys collective. A simple game to set up, including one elephant piece that moves around the colourful board on the roll of a dice and coloured truck cards in front of each player.It’s very clever in its simplicity and my 3-yr old, now 4, picked it up pretty quickly. Just learning how to take turns, accept losses, persistence and humility in winning have been game changers for us in real life, assisted by Orchard Toys.We started playing with our son a year ago, age 3. At first, he would have tantrums on losing and not want to play any more. We have persisted and now, he can do all the above (apart from being humble in winning as he stands on the sofa and poses like Superman before running around shouting out his victory to one and all) and it’s a joy to play games.With just one child, taking turns comes hard and games such as this are excellent at developing social skills such as sharing.The concept of your own cards of dirty trucks that need to be cleaned by turning them over and saying the phrase “Splish Splosh, nice and clean” as you pretend to wipe them with the sponge card has held the attention of my son and friends well. Even my husband, who has the 7-second attention span of a goldfish picked this up really quickly and stayed engaged for 3-4 rounds.The games are quick and not monotonous for adults or older children as we regularly play together with cousins age 8 and 10. Development of number and colour recognition is great for pre-school. This is one of the more simple Orchard Toy games, so, good for 3-5 yrs.One downside is our car is regularly left filthy as our son “cleans” it on a regular basis by dragging a wet sponge around the dirty panels and hub caps then using this same sponge to “clean” all the windows; “Splish, Splosh, nice and clean”. GrrrrrI would recommend this game to anyone with 3-5 year olds but keep your car and sponges well hidden.

We have loads of Orchard Toys games at home, all of which my children really enjoy, and Mucky Trucks was no exception!My four year old starts school this year so we've found this to be an incredibly helpful game for reinforcing his number recognition, counting skills, colour vocabulary and, of course, all important listening and turn taking skills. We've seen his confidence in number recognition improve hugely over the last couple of weeks and he now recognises which number he's rolled instantly.Players roll the dice, move the friendly elephant the number of spaces shown, and then 'scrub' clean the truck which matches the colour they land on. They particularly love this last part! And both naturally role play pretending they are cleaning their own trucks. If you land on a mud splat you have to make one of your trucks muddy again which, because it's such a fun idea, both children accept really well with no tantrums or meltdowns :-).It thought it might be a little too simplistic for my seven year old but she enjoys it too because the game play is quite unpredictable and very well thought out i.e. one minute you can be close to winning, and the next you've got lots of mucky trucks again.It was actually really fun and exciting for us parents too (which can't be said for a lot of simple pre-school games!) and we've found ourselves getting it out most nights after dinner this week.Overall five stars - would highly recommend!

This is a good fun game for a 3 year old who likes trucks. We’ve played it in several different ways. Orchard games are always made well - good quality!

I purchased this for my 3 year old (40 months) twin grandsons because they love trucks and reading the reviews it seemed a fun game. They enjoy throwing the dice and although recognise their numbers the actual counting along the board is something they are picking up. The verse ‘splish splosh nice and clean’ is funny when using the ‘sponge’ to clean the truck. However sometimes it can drag on when you land on the colour where your truck has already been cleaned and then landing on the muddy puddle having to turn a clean truck over If it keeps occurring they lose interest, as do I ! But on the whole it’s good to introduce the concept of a board game.
