Bought this to link into my solar charger in a vintage motorhome predominantly to charge phones with the excess energy.it was fitted some months ago and initially I was worried about the heat generated in the unit when charging but in reflection most chargers when in use generate a degree of heat ,this said I use only one of the outputs at a time now and it is only in use when the van is occupied and not while we are asleep.item works very well the sliding port cover is a little fiddly especially if you have any sensational loss in your fingers.it required the cutting of a small hole to install and basic connection of the wiring installed an online fuse and it looks like it was factory fitted .nice.

I needed a voltage controller so I could power my 5v ip camera from a 12v battery. Well made and has done the job

For most folks these are probably really good. I fitted a couple on a boat for a friend who wanted outlets in the bedrooms, and they were fine, no problem charging devices. If you drill a small home for the wires they fit flush and look neat. Bought some more to use in my off-grid radio shack to power a tablet PC, portable monitor and speakers. Above about half an amp current draw they start making a lot of electrical noise on the input side, spewing harmonics on HF bands - so not so good for radio hams. It looks like a cartoon ghost wandering up and down the signal display!For anyone else of a geeky nature, the attached picture is a comparison from a spectrum analyser showing common mode signals in the shack wiring with this USB outlet turned off and on, with a 1.2A load. Apologies for the different scales.

Pretty easy to fit, you just need to find a 12v feed, ideally a fused one. Thes fit flush & only require a small hole for the wires, look nice when fitted as well.

I bought two of these USB power sockets and tried them out with a tablet, a phone and with a USB power tester before fitting them and was glad I did. The voltage drops well below 5V when the current drawn from them is only about 1.3A, nowhere near the 3.1A quoted. Even if you allow that you might be able to draw 1.3A from both sockets simultaneously it wouldn't meet the requirements of a good USB power supply. I wasn't able to test this though as I only had one test load, so had to make a judgement based on what I could do, and didn't try increasing the current beyond 1.3A as I didn't want to be responsible for causing any damage. Trying it with the Android tablet and phone as a load before using the load tester aroused my suspicions as it brought up the 'charging slowly' message, so there was no doubt that this pair of USB sockets was not suitable for the job and I returned them for a refund.

Wordt geadverteerd als 3.1A dubbel USB, maar de aansluitsnoertjes zijn zo dun dat ik het niet aandurf dit zo in de auto te monteren. De kans op kabelbreuk is erg groot en als het wel vermogen moet leveren is de kans ook nog aanwezig dat de kabeltjes (te) warm worden.Al met al daarom dus niet in gebruik genomen. Afwerking van het kunstof en het dekseltje is wel netjes.

Diese Art von USB-Anschlüsse ist ideal für den Campingbus.Ich habe mittlerweile 2 Sorten verbaut. Bei der einen Sorte muss ein riesiges Loch gebohrt werden, weil der ganze Korpus dadurch gesteckt wird. Und bei dieser Sorte muss lediglich ein Loch für das Kabel gebohrt werden - im Prinzip eine smarte Aufputzinstallation 😉Achtung bei der Installation; auch dieses Modell verfügt über eine LED (rot). Ist absolut nicht aufdringlich hell, aber im Schlafbereich sollte man sich dann doch Gedanken machen, wo man den USB-Anschluss haben möchte.Ich kann diesen USB-Anschluss jedenfalls empfehlen.
