Brilliant kit, compared to buying and building your first few decks this works out cheap as chips (especially when offer) and offers several playing styles to experiment with.We’ve learned to play MTG with this and it gave us some good options as beginners. Useful to have several pre made decks if you have friends over too.They are easy to play although MTG as a whole does require quite a steep learning curve. We played our first few games wrong and learned the rules as we went. Lots of stopping and googling rules / reading on Reddit to figure out if we are doing things right.Good fun though.

After having recently been introduced to Magic the Gathering, we found the game easy to learn, but certainly very difficult to master.With so many cards and sets going back decades, it can be difficult finding somewhere to start, even the so-called "starter decks" often come with mixed colour decks that make it difficult to get a feeling for what the cards are supposed to be doing.This kit feels perfect for those newbies who want to see how the game plays at its simplest level, and get a chance to see the colours doing their thing.Each deck comes with a useful top card that explains with a simple graphic, how the deck plays, for instance, how well their monsters compare, or how their spells compare. Giving new players a chance to see at a glance what they are getting into, they each have a theme that works well and is uniquely distinct. Such as green clearly being the "Elf" deck, capable of spamming more and more elves. Each deck plays differently, but is no doubt adequately showcases their colour very well. It certainly gave us a good feeling to go further into the game and create our own decks for playing with.I love that this kit comes with so many extras, such as dice to track health, and plenty of +1/+1 counters to get through the games, and double sided tokens for when you summon new cards into the table.As a stand alone product. It does however feel like there simply aren't enough of those tokens when you play properly though. Sometimes we had to proxy in something else for an Elf or a Dragon when the cards called for it. Not a deal-breaker, but certainly annoying if this is your only exposure to Magic the Gathering and have no plans on getting further into the hobby.Is it good for a hardcore hobbyist? We aren't necessarily qualified to say. From what I've heard, no, there are better decks out there. But in any case, we have kept these decks as complete unaltered sets.We know they are balanced against each other nicely, and to tinker with them would upset that balance. That makes it a great item for "game night" when you have friends round and just want to pick something up without having to put too much thought into it in advance.

This looks like the most value to me, you get a few decks and everything you need. Best of all each deck is a different type so would cost eat most individually. Good fun too and nicely balanced 👍

A great way to get into magic: the gathering, each deck teaches different rules and play styles as well as providing some great gameplay for 2-5 players. The decks are easily upgradable and the inclusion of foil legendary creatures is always a nice touch. The whole box is well priced with five total standard decks and a bunch of double-sided tokens. The only downsides are that the box becomes stale after playing with and against the same decks for a while, but it still provided several months of fresh gameplay. I also tried combining these decks with the half deck precons in the unsanctioned box to create 90 card semi-commander decks for each mono colour which was also great funWould put 4.5 if I could

I bought this mostly because it had a few cards I wanted for decks I was building on my own, and so a number of the decks included have been taken apart. But the set itself is actually really impressive for its price, all 5 decks showcase the best of each mana type, the cards are good quality, fun-to-use cards, the included counters and dice are an added bonus. A definite recommend for someone looking to get into standard magic.

Has enough tokens and counters for a good game.Especially good for beginners with a rules book and helpful front cards on each deck stating what happens on your turn as well as the deck compositions and how complicated they are.

The media could not be loaded. I bought this as I wanted to get into MTG with my girlfriend and we’re absolutely loving it so far. I’ve had to watch a few YouTube videos to get the hang of the game but the rule book included does give you lots of helpful tips, like a glossary of key words!The multiple decks included offer a large variety of playing styles from powerhouse dragons to armies of elves each with endless possibilities during play. Also the +1/+1 counters included do come in very handy. We definitely have made a few mistakes along the way but it’s only taught us to do it right next time! And now we are getting into the swing of things the game is more and more enjoyable each time we play.The only con to the game is the time it takes to learn and play, however similar games to this require the same amount of time so I’d say the time is worth taking as it become very exciting and competitive once you’ve both understood the rules of the game.In our opinion, this game is a must for new players and a perfect party game for casual gameplay with friends!

Nice to have some simple, themed precons to get a quick game going. Tokens are nice, little cardboard counters and spindowns too. Not expensive and convenient.

This set is great to introduce the game to friends in a casual way. They are a bit slow paced and green feels slightly more powerful, but I definitely recommend it!
