5.0 out of 5 stars Runs Small, So Size Up — Excellent Quality
I normally wear a size 9 and sized up half a size based on recommendations—glad I did, as they run small. Excellent quality, very comfortable, and feel sturdy. Great value for money.
5.0 out of 5 stars Felt spot-on straight out of the box
I've worn to failure quite a few pairs of hiking boots. Berghaus, Scarpa and Brasher pairs lasted the longest (the last, though sturdy, did feel like a pair of housebricks on my feet sometimes). As I'm in my seventh decade now I fancied a light but rugged boot and after a bit of research chose these. They arrived within a day (today) as promised. The fit is comfortable. I take a UK 9 and, unlike other reviewers, didn't need to go up a size. My left foot is slightly smaller than my right one but these boots accommodated the difference without any problem. I've just got back from a 2.5 mile road test at a brisk pace to check for any hot spots or pinch points and I'm happy to report no discomfort at all. They are as comfortable on as a light pair of NIkes I used to have which were little more than trainers but there's a much more reassuring, solid, 'rubber on the road' feel to these despite their light weight. First impression is very positive. I'm hoping to update this review over time as I start to use them in, if not anger, then a little bit of vigour.
5.0 out of 5 stars Merrell Goretex boots
I have had many pairs of these boots down the years and will buy more when these wear out. Comfortable, flexible and 100% waterproof and very breathable. A bit chilly in very cold conditions but with a good pair of socks these are excellent boots.
4.0 out of 5 stars Your first purchase? Buy a half size up.
Professional reviews put this boot firmly at the top of the budget trekking range and it doesn't disappoint. It's very well made and comfortable, and does everything it claims and more. I had no problem with waterproofing as stated by others. My only recommendation is get a half size larger than your usual size as they come up snug, especially at the toe.
5.0 out of 5 stars Fits well, comfy and rigid, but please order 1/2 size bigger
Almost all of my shoes are UK8 but I had to order UK8.5 as these are slightly narrower. Other than that, these shoes are perfectly comfortable even after long periods of walking. I work at a warehouse that involves a lot of walking - like 40,000 steps on average within a 10-hr shift, but trainers are too soft for my work environment (try kicking a pallet's corner in those...) so these shoes with a slightly more rigid build is perfect for the job. I've had these for more than 6 months now so that's roughly 1000 hours of use and they're still looking great. I couldn't recommend them enough so 5 stars from me.
5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic walking shoes waterproof and comfortable to wear from day 1
The media could not be loaded. I’ve been walking in these Moab 3 GTX for the last 11 months averaging 450k steps per month. Mostly on paths and pavements with some grass/gravel tracks thrown in. I’ve found them to be excellent walking shoes in all conditions, waterproofing is spot on. Comfortable to wear from day one. I take a UK11 in all other shoes but needed a 12.5 in these. The heel of the shoe has finally worn out so they need replacing, wouldn’t consider any other alternative as these have been great. Would highly recommend.
5.0 out of 5 stars Walking on sunshine
Remarkable product. When it comes to footware, comparison is vital due to a heriditary condition, both I and my brother suffer from with our feet . We just cannot wear flat shoes. If that were the case we'd have done all of our most extreme mountain hiking in flip flops. After an extensive amount of research I finally reached the conclusion. The footware is exceptional in comfort, support and absolutely worth the effort and every penny spent. This is especially considering that I have never before bought footware online. It is almost as daunting as finding the right wife on the Internet. These shoes were made for walking Snowdonia and perhaps we will also get the opportunity to hike in the Scottish Highlands in search of that Bonnie lass. 😍🏴
3.0 out of 5 stars Very comfy, very NOT waterproof
These boots are very, very comfy. They are very, very not waterpoof!!I tried on many boots after reading various reviews online. Tried many brands (La Sportiva, North Face, Scarpa, Saloman etc....). I am walking from Shetland to Lands End currently, so getting the right boots was vital. My criteria was 2 things: 1. Comfort. 2. Waterproof. This was essential for me.The Merrell Moabs were by far the comfiest boot out of the lot. Instantly comfy. They felt like they needed no breaking in, so that was a tick. They are also "Gortex", so should be waterproof. They are also very light weight. So I went with these.I am currently 35 days into my walk and the boots are still comfy. They also have very good grip. (FYI - I am a size 9.5 but got a 10 - right decision). They are however not in the slightest bit waterproof. It's been unseasonably warm in Shetland and Orkney so I have been blessed with good weather, experiencing little rain. These boots absorb water just walking through wet grass. My socks are literally soaked. When asked by my dad if I was sure the water wasn't leaking in from the top, I can confirm this definitely isn't the case, as I have been wearing Gortex Gaiters recently and my feet still get soaked. There is no getting away from the fact these boots are incredibly comfy. But, they are quite simply not waterpoof. Don't be fooled by "Gortex". I now think of it as a way for a brand to increase a products price, in the same way that food products says how much protein they contain. If you need Comfort, and a light weight boot, buy them.If you need waterproof, do not.I will be purchasing waterpoof socks when I get to Inverness, no doubt at an additional cost of circa £50. I could have put that money into even more expensive boots. From previous experience I would, and in future will, buy leather.
