The kit I got was the Detective House. The kit arrives in a really nice box with a lovely printed sleeve, so it would make an excellent gift. The pieces are very good quality and the instructions are clear. Some of the pieces were a little fiddly, so some patience is needed. It probably took me about 6 or 7 hours in total. The finished model is exactly like the photo, lots of detail and looks very impressive with the lights on. I really enjoyed doing this model and I will definitely order some more.In addition to purchasing the kit you will need 2 AAA batteries for the lights and some glue - I used PVA glue which worked really well.

This was my first time doing a kit like this, and I'm really pleased with the results. It is every bit as lovely as it looks in the promo photos. The best part is that, in putting it together, you really get to savour the small details as you go, and there's some room for creativity in how you arrange the books and the posters.It is definitely fiddly to make and takes a good deal of concentration. There is very little room for error. Also it is largely held together with glue, even in many of the large structural elements. I had expected more pieces to slot together, with the glue only used to reinforce, but instead whole large set pieces consist of flat parts glued together, sometimes just by a small edge. It's worth getting a good quality, slow-drying glue that lets you mush things around a little, and plan on patience to let some parts dry before moving on to the next step. I used a small disposable cup to squeeze the glue into, and toothpicks for application.It is also worth paying close attention to the direction the pieces will be facing in the final build, as they are only printed on one side.I followed the advice of another reviewer and made sure to press out each piece from the back to avoid messing up the printed parts, as bits of wood inevitably splinter a bit in the process. There is a little file included to smooth the edges of each bit.But none of these are complaints, just a heads up for newbies like me! The pieces all fit together beautifully, I had very little trouble punching them out, and the instructions made sense. It took me about a weekend, off and on.

Really enjoyed assembling this book nook. The detail is great and there's lots to make. Some bits are quite fiddly, especially the lighting. You need a decent glue-not super glue and a pair of tweezers. Have fun!

I bought this for myself as an early birthday gift. I spent 4 happy evenings putting this together and the end result is brilliant. It can be quite fiddly at times and the books were repetitive to make but it’s all worth it in the end. The instructions are very visual so you do need good eyes to follow them and patience whilst waiting for the glue to dry (not supplied!)

The media could not be loaded. I had bought my cousin one of these for her birthday and fell in love with it after she had built it so decided to get myself one too. It took me two evenings to make it, all the pieces are well made and lovely bright colours. The instructions were really easy to follow. On the one I got for my cousin, (the one with the black cat on the side), you have to slide the perspex up to get to the sensor to turn the lights on, but with the one I got (nebula common room), the light is turned on by touching the star on the top, this is a lot better as I won't have to keep opening up the unit. Parts are fiddly but that is what I would expect as it is a mini little room. I did end up gluing more pieces than was suggested in the instructions as some pieces were a little loose. Please note that glue is not included. I used super glue to make the building process quicker. All in all, I am very impressed and extremely in love with it, in fact, as soon as I finished making it, I ordered another (Japanese landscape one), I can't wait to get started on it. I have a feeling I am going to end up with a bookcase full of booknooks! 😁

Bought as a gift for my dad's Christmas as an alternative to a jigsaw, and he was very pleased with it. It looks very nice once built.He had to supply his own glue which I didn't realise. He said some bits were fiddly, especially having to make up countless little books, but he really enjoyed it none the less.Nice when it's lit up, well put together, and the perspex front helps keep the dust off.

I bought this as a potential Christmas present for a niece.But due to been hungover, bored but not wanting to get up and go out, I put this together instead.I really did enjoy building this. It was a fantastic way to spend the day.I will admit, I am handy at DIY and love assembling flat pack's so I did find this easy enough, just time consuming. But in hindsight I don't believe my niece would find this easy. It does say 14 plus, but I think you would need to know the users capabilities before giving them a present like this.Most of the pieces fit each other, but I did require using the nail file quite often so shave the tabs. The instructions were clear.Just to note the kit does not come with glue or batteries and a scissors is required also for making the books.All in all I believe I might have found a new hobby.

Bought for my hubby as he loves miniature models. He really enjoyed this one. Challenging but something different. It is beautiful and lights up. Has pride of place in the living room on the bookcase instead of in his office with his other creations. He said it was Challenging but not so much that it was going out the window. He enjoyed it and loved the end product. Def recommend.

Me encanta.
The lights don't work
I was so excited for this project. The quality is great, everything was going fine. But just as I finished it and put in the batteries I find out that the switch doesn't work no matter how much I tap.Very disappointed. Would love to get a new lightset so that I can finish it properly.
A touch of magic
Great build, easy to follow instructions and a wife that was really ecstatic from the moment she got it all the way until she finished it and placed it in the bookcase.
Incorect wire
One of the wires in the kit is much shorter than it should be, and because of this, I cannot finish the project :( I would be happy to get the correct wire

The lights don't work
