For an age, the tower lay in ruins. Unbeknownst to the people of the realm, a great evil stirred in its bowels. It started with strange sightings: a flock of crows flying in circles until they dropped from the sky, the lake frozen solid in the height of summer. In time, they could not deny that which they most feared. The evil had not been vanquished. The darkness would soon fall again. The tower will rise. A "sequel" to the 1981 grail game, Return to Dark Tower is a game for 1-4 players who take the role of heroes. Together, they gather resources, cleanse buildings, defeat monsters, and undertake quests to build up their strength and discern what foe ultimately awaits them. When the heroes face the tower, the game shifts into its dramatic second act, where the players have one chance to defeat the enemy once and for all. The game features cooperative and competitive play. The game features traditional game mechanisms, such as engine building and resource management, paired with a technological interface unlike any seen before in games, including the titular tower, which holds more than a few secrets.

Worth every penny
I’m an avid board game collector/player, so I’ve seen my fair share of games and this is hands down the coolest board game I’ve played. I was skeptical at first, it’s hard to justify that kind of cost for a board game but once you play and see how the tower and app interact to make the game feel alive, it makes sense.Packaging: the packaging is super nice and convenient, not a pain to setup/put away at all. I have many games that are fun but the thought of setting up and putting away alone are enough to deter me or friends from wanting to play it. That’s not an issue at all here.Replay-ability: it has a TON of replay-ability, you can randomize bosses, foes, the amount of turns are random, spawns are random, etc. so games will often be different. You can also increase the difficulty and choose between cooperative or competitive play.Learning the game: honestly the game is pretty easy to learn, doesn’t take an hour to read the rules and understand, and the app does a lot of the heavy lifting for managing events and what not. They have videos to explain the main concepts of the game, and once you get going it’s even smoother.Game length: I’ve only played with my girlfriend so far, but after getting a hang of the game, it takes us around an hour to play/beat (playing cooperatively only), but it can vary depending on how you play/if you rush the main objective.Playing the game: the app and character sheets do a great job of keeping track of things for players so it’s easy and intuitive to take turns.Overall: it’s a ton of fun and I highly recommend if you can afford it.
Great game easy to learn fun co-op
I have the original dark tower and this is a great addition to my game shelf. Played solo and with 2 then 4 players. Only played co-op thus far but everyone Ive played with ages 16 to 65 have picked up the rules quick and were good to play within the first 2 months of in game time so like 3 turns. Wish it was a bit cheaper and better on batteries 4AA batteries lasted 3 games. I will be grabbing all the expansions at some point. Good times
It burns brand new batteries after every game
Love the game itself. I am disappointed because it requires 3 brand new batteries every time.
A fantastic sequel
I got this for my parents for Christmas. They used to play the original all the time before I came along. I can't wait to play this awesome sequel with them and my wife!
Delivers on every level
I loved this game as a kid, so I had high expectations when I bought it. This meets and exceeds every expectation. The game play is great. The app used with the game keeps track of battles, dungeons, quests, etc. and that makes the game easy to play. Being able to change what enemies to fight gives endless gaming variations. I recently purchased the Covenant expansion set and the Dark Horde figurine set, and it makes gameplay even better. I highly recommend this game. It will give you hours of fun. The only downside is it's a 4-player game (max). Other than that, I have no complaints!
