Always exellent product

I have been using this brand and charcoal size (27mm) for a while and I can say they are among the best on the market. The charcoals have no smell when they are completely lit. Expect some specific smells when you light the charcoals. You can use a gas lamp or your stove (make sure you always keep an eye on them).Because of its dimensions (27mm), you can smoke 2 rounds of shisha flavors, instead of one session with the smaller ones.

This is definitely a case where it is worth reading the manufacturer’s instruction prior to using this charcoal. I had planned to sit back and watch a film with a relaxing shisha pipe, instead I found I spent the entire 90 minute length of the film trying, and failing to get this charcoal lit. I was all set to write a bad review when I scanned over the Bolo product page and finally saw the instructions to actually light it directly from a kitchen hob. I am pleased to say, this technique changed everything. 5 minutes or so on my electric hob and I had a nice glow going and was able to enjoy my shisha, was very easy to do in the background as I cooked some dinner too. These are quite chunky coals and although I used 2, I suspect a single one would have served very adequately for a single session as it burned for absolutely ages. This means that, at £17.99 at time of review for a surprisingly weighty box of 104 coals, they are great value. I have not tried them for BBQ or anything else, but now that I know how to get them started they will be perfect for shisha sessions and I am very impressed.

I have a small barbeque and tend to use the lightable bags you can get from your local supermarket, for ease of setting up a small garden dinner. What I've noticed, however, is that the fires can burn for variable amounts of time and can result in undercooked food or only being able to cook a small amount.I got these bricks as a top up for said bags, and they work perfectly. It's been a while since I've started a barbeque up from scratch, so I can't speak to how easily these are to start de novo, but as a top up they work brilliantly after the fire has reached a good heat. It gives more control over how long the fire goes on for and allows me to cook with confidence more than just a couple of sausages.
