5.0 out of 5 stars 5 Stars, Best D-Pad for Street Fighter V PS5
This 'Satelite Dish' (as I nicknamed it) Style D-Pad is the best for Street Fighter. I'm really not happy with the dual-sense d-pad or even the dualshock 4 I was using on PS4. This makes fireball rotation movement for shoto characters like Ryu or Ken and charge characters like Chun-Li so much easier to execute combos. The accuracy for execution is instantly noticeable. I only returned mine, because I needed the money back, but I will be purchasing another soon for street fighter content on YouTube. I love Street Fighter and this is my favourite controller. Having the 6 light, medium and heavy attack buttons on the front, make the game more fun also. I never liked using triggers on the back for fighting games. The feel of the controller is nice. Very professionally made (if that makes sense), visually as well. Looks nice.I can easily spend hours using this controller without my thumbs hurting and the material it's made from is nice to hold on to. The buttons don't take much effort to register a click, so you might not like this? I got used to it though. I suppose that's for quick reactions during play, which makes sense. They 6 buttons, make clicky sounds like mouse clicks, for your info. The only negative I can think of is the sound from the headphone port isn't as clear and bassy as the dual-sense controller, and I like my bass. It's not aweful and tinny, but it does lean towards a sharper, tinny sound. Anyway, it's great, so give it a buy if you like fighting games!
4.0 out of 5 stars Solid controller for pad using fighter players at a solid price
Preface:I never write reviews but I have a lot to say about this controllerI've had this for about a week now and used it for around 15 hours on Street Fighter 6. Having struggled to find a good controller that helps you to reliably input commands, this one has been a real turning point for me. I've been using a PS5 controller for as long as I've been playing on the PS5 (the d-pad is great!) but needed to get a controller for PC, and I didn't want to use an xbox controller which is what I usually use for most games. Since the d-pad has always terrible on an xbox controller (360 for it's satellite dish d-pad and the xbox one controller which for some reason is difficult for quarter circle motions as it tends to not register diagonal inputs very easily) I needed something more tailored to fighting games. I have to say that since getting this controller, it really hits the mark, and for the price, it's really good! Here's what I like:-The octagonal gate of the analogue is a genius bit of design which gives you tactile feedback of the motions of your thumb. You feel the stick click around the gate, giving you physical confirmation of the direction the stick is at. As someone who always plays with the d-pad and struggled using an analogue stick for precise inputs, I can't praise this design enough.-The buttons! The face buttons are really responsive and feel great. No stiffness, and the microswitches make them really clicky. The 6 button arrangement feels comfortable, and regular fightpad users will feel at home. With R1 and R2 on the front of the controller respectively in the right of the of 6 button arrangement, L1 and L2 are mapped to the right shoulder buttons, so things like parry and drive impact are executed with the right hand, as well as the rest of your attack inputs. The stick buttons (L3 and R3) are mapped to the left shoulder buttons, however the L3 button in the analogue stick still exists. This arrangement might be an issue for players of other certain games that require the layout, though mapping buttons ingame shouldn't be an issue. The options/start, share/select, touch and PS buttons work as expected. Steam users can bring up the Steam overlay with the PS button just as you'd expect with the home button on an Xbox controller. What I don't like so much:-The d-pad! This might be personal preference but I wish this controller had a d-pad more akin to the PS5 and most other Playstation controllers; separate, tightly arranged buttons that you can differentiate on your thumb. The Hori has the satellite dish design which has a feel that I can't get to grips with. Quarter and half circle motions just don't feel right for me. I know there are some people who roll these d-pads around from the centre, especially those who play characters with 360 inputs, but it's nothing you couldn't do with the analogue stick. The only thing I use the d-pad for is dashing and drive rush, as tapping twice on the d-pad I find is much easier and faster than the analogue stick.-The only other nitpicks I have are with the feel of the controller; It is VERY light, and is a little weird if you're used to Xbox or dualsense controllers. Not a big deal but worth pointing out. I also wish the controller was a TINY bit larger and the paddles of the controller faced outward a little more. Again; not a huge deal, but it would likely make the controller that little bit more comfortable.Summary:This is an excellent fightpad for the price with only a couple of drawbacks. If the analogue stick wasn't an absolutely stellar gamechanger, I do feel that the squashy satellite dish d-pad would be a real dealbreaker, but it honestly makes up for it so much! Especially coming from someone who is used to playing fighting games exclusively with a d-pad for years. Everything just feels nice with this controller, from the stick to the buttons, and I don't think I could see myself going back to the dualsense. If it wasn't for the d-pad, this would get 5 stars.

A definite recommendation. It's excellent. D pad could be better but it's still good especially with the software to change pressure on dpad. I love this
2.0 out of 5 stars D - Pad is shockingly bad
Been looking for a 6 button fight pad as wanted to Play Street Fighter 6 on my new PS5 instead of staying with the ps4. My older fight pad doesn't work with PS5. Tried this Hori fight pad and although the layout and the buttons are pretty good, the D - Pad is absolutely appalling. With my older Fusion fight pad my inputs are usually tight and I can get the moves and combos I'm attempting almost every time. With this Hori the amount of times I have dropped BASIC bnb combos is ridiculous all due to the D - Pad being so loose. Used for 3 days and decided to go back to the old pad on ps4. Boom, all of a sudden my inputs are magically OK again.Product feels incredibly flimsy and cheap. Not worth the money. Returned.
5.0 out of 5 stars It's all about that octagonal gate!
As an enjoyed of GameCube I've always loved octagonal gates on joysticks. Even modified my old SFxT arcade stick to have one. Better control of diagonals and more tactile on QCFs etc. couple this with the funky micro switched buttons and it's a damn good bit of kit. Great for Tekken, Street Fighter and arcade style single stick games.
1.0 out of 5 stars absolutely terrible
If you play any fighting games which require motion inputs ( qcf, hcf, dp etc.) do not buy this pad. The face buttons feel good due to the machanical switches but the dpad is potentially the worst ive ever used. the pad itsef is not an ergonomic shape or size, and its impossible to find corners. when i watched reviews, it said that a firmware update would fix the diagonals but the firmware update either doesnt work or bricks the entire pad, at which point they will ask you to return it. If you play easy characters/ you are bad at the game then you might be fine, but if you care about accuracy of inputs avoid this pad at all costs.I should mention that this pad has ALOT of potential for future development, but is completely unusable in its current state.
3.0 out of 5 stars Overrated
In all honesty, the controller is okay and usable but for fighting games the d-pad and joystick aren't that accurate especially when it comes to motion inputs like quarter circle ones. I would recommend learning leverless over a pad if you need precision
Big improvement over standard PS5 controller for fighting games
Really love the Hori OCTA! I play most games on arcade sticks (street fighter, guilty gear etc), but for Mortal Kombat 1 I was looking for a controller with a good D-pad. I am really happy with the Hori. The D-pad is a big improvement for me over the standard PS5 controller, it gets out the special moves very consistently and fast. The buttons are very nice, you can feel the micro switch buttons are different but they are light and very fast to press also, it sounds like a mouse click and I think also here a good improvement over a standard controller. I used the hori software to map some buttons to make it suited for MK1 better and I like the fact that it stores it on the controller so you don't have to mess around with the PS settings. You can switch on the controller between PC, PS4 and PS5 and for each of these you can save a profile. So that can come in handy as both the PS4 and PS5 setting work on a PS5 console you have more or less 2 settings you can store. The controller is very light, this is not an issue to me, it is comfortable to hold and seems to be of good quality. I will have to play some more months before I can say that though :)
