5.0 out of 5 stars Works well with my fat burning iron
I wanted to try this Ultrasound Gel with my fat burning iron as it needs conductive gel. I tried Lavender gel and Arnica gel and they both worked but I had to keep topping it up as it dried too quickly and stopped being slippery. This gel works a lot better, it remained slippery until the end of my treatment, so I'm really happy with it. It was conductive enough, I could feel the pulses just as much as with the other gels, and this is really good value as you get so much of it.It comes in a large container and there is a spout that you attach in order to pour some into the smaller container, then you use it from that. It is quite heavy and bulky, so not that easy to decant into the smaller container, but it will get smaller and lighter the more you do it. You are only supposed to use what is decanted for a week and then dispose of it and clean the container, so I think that it is best to try to judge how much you would need for a week and fill to that level. Doing my fat burning ironing does take quite a bit of gel, so I'll have to see how it goes.
5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic value for money
I recently bought myself an Abs belt that uses permanently fixed pads that need to have ultrasound gel applied to them before every use. I looked at the price of 250ml bottles of gel, and they worked out at about £3-£4 a bottle. I get through quite a lot of this gel in the course of a week, so I was delighted to be offered this 5 litre container that comes with a 250ml refill bottle. Putting that into context, this container has 20 times the amount of gel that comes in a 250ml bottle, which at £3 a bottle would cost me £60. This high quality gel is just a quarter of that price (£14.99), which means 250ml costs well under a pound, making it absolutely outstanding value for money. This size of container is obviously aimed at medical facilities primarily, but it's going to last me for at least 2 years at current consumption rate, and save me a lot of money too. It is every bit as good as much more expensive gels, and because it's water soluble, it can be easily wiped away with a tissue, and then wiped clean with a damp cloth, or sponge. I highly recommend this gel, it is a steal at the price.
5.0 out of 5 stars A big supply of ultrasound lube, which also works well with bedroom toys...
This ultrasound gel comes in its own 5l plastic container with a twist off lid. You’ll also find a refill bottle and a pouring nozzle. The nozzle screws on to the big bottle, allowing you to refill the refillable bottle without the gel going everywhere. Still not easy to do with a full 5L bottle but it makes it a lot easier than it could have been. The gel is clear, with no smell, and acts as a lube for quite a while before starting to dry out. We’ve even tried it on some bedroom toys, and it worked just as well as regular water-based lube. It does say on the tub that it’s for external use only, as it’s not sterile, and should only be used for external use. Ultrasound gel can be used for trans-vaginal ultrasounds so I don’t see an issue but we’ve only used it with toys, externally, which worked quite well…
4.0 out of 5 stars Better for ultrasound equipment
I wanted to try this with my Tens machine that shoots tiny electrical pulses into the skin for pain relief, while it still works with my muscle machine it wasn't as strong as the conductive gel I normally use, I found out with some research why.You can use ultrasound gel with a TENS unit. However, it may be less effective than gels formulated specifically for TENS electrodes because Ultrasound gel has lower electrical conductivity than gels made for use with electrodes. So, less of the TENS current can pass from the unit to your body. You fit the big nozzle around the tank and pour in the tube, it does what it says on the front no skin irritating for me personally, but you should test check on small part of skin just incase for 24 hours. So really I'd recommend it for ultrasound machines not enough elecricity conductive gel for my Tens but will not lower a rating based on that. It didn't leave me with any skin reactions so all is good and I could still use it for my Tens machine it just won't be as powerful. Has a decent expiry date too about 2 years.
