Description:
Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream continues the story of Sophie and Plachta's many adventures. After leaving Sophie's hometown of Kirchen Bell, the pair discovers a huge tree identical to one that Plachta had seen in a dream, and as they get closer, a mysterious vortex pulls them inside. Sophie awakens alone in a curious new world called Erde Wiege, and it's not long before she hears about an alchemist named Plachta that lives on the outskirts of town. Shockingly, when Sophie arrives at the atelier, she meets a young alchemy enthusiast named Plachta, and even though the alchemist shares the same name as her friend, she doesn't recognise Sophie. What other surprises await Sophie on this journey? As the adventure continues, Sophie meets aspiring alchemist, Ramizel Erlenmeyer, who willingly agrees to help her in her time of need. The narrative elegantly unfolds with a charming new visual style that combines the art of the Mysterious sub-series with the high-quality graphics and animations featured in 2021's Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends and the Secret Fairy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another strong entry in the series
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } We get a lively cast of new characters, a beautiful world to explore, another great soundtrack, and an interesting story. As is generally the case with Atelier games it's a self-contained story that will work for newcomers, but you'll get more out of it if you play the original Sophie game first, due to certain characters and who show up.After the real-time battle system of Ryza, this is a return to turn-based battles, and adds some new mechanics that keep things interesting. It's quite similar to Final Fantasy X in the way that active party members can be swapped out at almost any time, either to chain together attacks or defend in an emergency, which ramps up your tactical options for any encounter. The use of dynamic camera movement and wild attack animations deserve special mention for making the battles feel fast-paced and exciting despite the stop/start nature of the turn-based system. The alchemy system likewise returns to the Tetris-style grid of Sophie 1, but with some enhancements that make it more complex and engaging. Even the series staple activity of gathering materials sees some new mechanics, with mini-games added to certain gathering spots that add some variety and don't outstay their welcome since they're not too frequent.Between the recent Atelier games, Blue Reflection: Second Light, and now Atelier Sophie 2, Gust are on a roll at the moment.
5.0 out of 5 stars A must for collectors
Brought for my brother, is now in his collection never to be opened, if ur a fan of the series it’s a must
4.0 out of 5 stars It's English subtitles again when it said language English on the information about the game
Great game but as always better if it was in English like Atelier Sophie, Firis, Rorona, Totori, Meruru, Ayesha, Shallie, Escha & Logy, they were all full English unlike the on after them Gust and KT have got lazy and just wanted the money I would enjoy the game series more if it was all game in full English not Japanese with English subtitles
5.0 out of 5 stars If you're into the Series, this entry is a no brainer
If you've liked any of their previous entries, I'm sure there is something here for you to enjoy. A great continuation of Sophies storyline and an all together fun experience. Would highly recommend!
5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to pick up.
Very well made and easy to get into. Impressive turnbased battle mechanics. Looking forward to sinking many hours into this one!
5.0 out of 5 stars Great buy
fantastic game
4.0 out of 5 stars Lovely game ... but Japanese audio only. Ouch!
Great game; fun characters, nice mechanics; everything you'd expect of a good JRPG....except that you have to play it with voice-over volume cranked down to zero, because the Japanese dub is horrible. If not for that, this would have been five stars. Provide an English dub next time, most people worldwide understand English, not Japanese.
