Its a shiny black plastic box with a bit of visual appeal. the plastic is very rigid and you can easily drill holes in it. as far as project boxes go this one is better than average. the waterproofing seal was a little on the short side.

Impressive quality, better than any other box I have had.
I set up woodworking shops, where three phase power is used and safety is a big concern. I have tried numerous junction boxes from the hardware stores, including "brand names",, which all were either badly designed (e.g. mounting holes right below entry points, flimsy material), or simply unsuitable for a proper installation.Here are a few points why this junction box is so much better:- There are no "perforated" holes with wobbly rubber plugs—you drill your own holes to the perfect size to fit your cable junction box fittings.- There are four mounting holes, on the bottom edges, but sealed off from the internal box. This is a smart design, as it leaves no holes whatsoever inside the box. A screwdriver is required. Do yourself a favor and use square-drive screws (Robertson), to make the mounting easier (square drive screws will "stick" to your driver).- The screws that mount the lid down are good quality phillips screws, not the usual half-philips, half slotted nightmare. They are proper threaded metal screws, and screw into a brass thread on the box. Way better than screwing into plastic! These will not wear out.- There is a proper rubber seal around the lid.- There are numerous additional mounting possibilities, in case you cannot use the ones on the edges.- The material is very strong and also quite thick.In summary: Perfect for someone who wants a proper custom installation and doesn't mind spending some time drilling the necessary holes.To drill, I recommend a hole saw, but a forstner bit also works when used with care. Be sure to support the underside with a block of wood before drilling.
