About the Cranberry

THERE'S NOTHING LIKE A CRANBERRY

Cranberries are one of the most unique fruits in the world. One of only three fruits native to North America, cranberries grow in the wild on long-running vines in sandy bogs and marshes. While they’re primarily harvested in the Northeast, cranberries also grow in other parts of North America, like Wisconsin and the Pacific Northwest, and in Chile.

DISCOVERING THE ‘WONDERBERRY'

It was Native Americans who first took advantage of the cranberry’s many natural attributes. They made a survival food called pemmicana, and believed in the medicinal value of the cranberry, using the berry in poultices to draw poison from arrow wounds. The rich red juice of the cranberry was used as a natural dye for rugs, blankets, and clothing. All just some of the reasons the cranberry has been called the ‘wonderberry.'

SUSTAINABLY GROWN

We are proud to be the first fruit cooperative in North America that has verified its crop as sustainably grown [Sustainability Agriculture Initiative (SAI) Platform, Farm Sustainability Assessment, 2020]. Our mission at Ocean Spray is to connect farms to families for a better life. Together with our farmer-owners, we are dedicated to the health of people, communities, and our planet.

TRY IT IN A RECIPE

Experience all our juices have to offer. Make your drinks a little bit sweeter by using cranberry juice in your recipes, such as a Sea Breeze, Sangria, Gin Fizz, ginger and lemon tea, or an autumn smoothie. Adults and children alike love our beverages.

About Ocean Spray

The Ocean Spray story starts in 1930 when three passionate, independent cranberry growers found the key to expanding the superfruit's success: A single cranberry-growing family! By coming together in one cooperative, Marcus Urann, John Makepeace and Elizabeth Lee worked together to create deliciously innovative products with the fruit they loved. The best part? They continued to grow their cranberry family along the way, which now includes over 700 grower families across the Americas!

THE ORIGINAL AND BEST

Ocean Spray became the first producer of cranberry juice drinks! Our products were hitting store shelves, and as years passed, we created more and more innovative products.

ABOUT OUR FARMERS

Ocean Spray is a vibrant agricultural cooperative owned by more than 700 cranberry farmers in the United States, Canada, and Chile who have helped preserve the family farming way of life for generations. Each farm and its efforts may seem tiny on its own, but collectively these farmers make a mighty impact. As a cooperative, Ocean Spray and its farmer-owners have a joint commitment to maintaining the authenticity of our brand.
