This book gives clear instructions, explains electronics for beginners in a simple and understandable way and limits itself to what is necessary.It is fun to read and leads directly and without detours to practical application.Such specialist books are rare and if I could, I would give 6 stars :-)
Must have reference book
Love this book. It is well written, covers everything a person would need to know without having to have a degree in electrical engineering. I will refer to this often I’m sure.
Leider KEIN Buch, das sich überhaupt wirklich mit dem Reparieren beschäftigt....;-(
Wie schon im Rezensionstitel erwähnt.....das Buch ist leider überhaupt nicht hilfreich, wenn man Tips und Tricks (was der explizite Titel "Cookbook" eigentlich nahelegen sollte) zum Thema Elektronikreparaturen sucht. Davon abgesehen, dass das Buch ohnehin in sehr großer Schrift und mit "viel Luft" gedruckt ist, handelt es sich eigentlich fast ausschließlich um eine Ansammlung von beschreibenden Bildern und kurzen Textpassagen über.....ja, über was eigentlich....? Vor allem im Stil von: Es gibt dies, es gibt das....aber völlig triviale Dinge. Alleine zehn Seiten über Zangen, Pinzetten und Schraubenzieher etc., wobei allein auf 1,5 Seiten über den Unterschied von zwei verschiedenen Kreuzschraubenantrieben doziert wird - und wo diese ihren Ursprung haben....!?!? Selbst ein paar kleine Löttips kann man kaum ernstnehmen, weil die Bilder der Ergebnisse aussehen wie von einem Elefanten gelötet - mit großen Klecksen von Lötzinn....Als (Material-und-Werkzeug-Erklärungs-)Sachbuch für die erste Klasse oder für die Sendung mit der Maus kann man das Buch vielleicht nutzen, aber alles andere ist schlicht weder lehrreich noch sinnvoll.Mit eigentlichen "Reparaturen" beschäftigt sich das Buch dann auf den letzten 40 Seiten, allerdings ebenfalls derart oberflächlich, dass z.B. der Reparatur von Laptops 5 Seiten (natürlich bebilderte 5 Seiten!) gewidmet werden - eigentlich sind das alles nur ein paar Anleitungen zur Demontage...Ein Beispiel für einen inhaltslosen Abschnitt bei der Hilfe für eine Laptop"reparatur":Überschrift: "Wie man Ersatzteile für Laptops findet""Wenn Sie einen Ersatzbildschirm oder andere Teile für einen Laptop kaufen möchten, suchen Sie nach der Modellnummer des Laptops, ebenso wie nach den vielen Nummern, die auf dem Teil selbst zu finden sind.Manche Ersatzteilhändler nutzen eine Nummer für ein Teil, andere Händler eine andere Nummer.Auf verschiedene Arten zu suchen gibt Ihnen den besten Preis oder die beste Verfügbarkeit.Wenn es egal ist, ob der Bildschirm mtt oder glänzend ist, haben Sie noch mehr Optionen.Achten Sie darauf, dass die Anschlüsse der Ersatzbildschirme und -keyboards dieselben sind wie die der Originalteile. Der gleiche Laptop kann unter Umständen verschiedene Anschlüsse haben."Und so geht es eigentlich das ganze Buch über.....man hätte auch schreiben können: "Wenn es regnet, kann es sein, dass die Erde nass wird."Okay, man könnte fairerweise sagen, dass man das eigentlich beim aufmerksamen Durchlesen des Inhaltsverzeichnisses auch schon hätte ablesen können, aber unterm Strich ist es einfach so: Das Buch ist schlicht völliger Nonsens - und schon gar nicht das, was der Titel verspricht!Obwohl Bolo das Buch trotz Erstattung noch nicht einmal zurückgeschickt haben wollte (Ein Schelm, wer Böses dabei denkt ;-)), landet es direkt im Altpapier.

While nothing can substitute experience, this book provides a good head start for anyone who wishes to pick up electronics repair as a vocation or a avocation.

Very detailed things to know about components and how they work. They have pictures of it and as well as how to solder.
