I bought these on Wednesday of last week (it's now Sunday) and my cold sore is almost completely gone and has skipped the weeping and scabbing stage. I am not usually a cold sore sufferer, but after spending 3 weeks at the beach in the US I ended up burning my lips twice despite using SPF lip balm every day. I ended up getting a cold sore after week one and used Abreva which basically did nothing (if you can ever get your hands on Zovirax I recommend since it actually is an OTC Acyclovir cream unlike Abreva) - my lip was absolutely vile and embarrassing but my friend gave me 2 Acyclovir pills to help with the healing. So when I ended up with a new one right after the last one healed I almost had a breakdown. I went to CVS and decided to give these a try and these are a lifesaver! I slept with them on and used them all day on my flight from NYC to back to London. They are pretty expensive so you will probably need 2 packs but they are highly worth it. If you're in the UK order Compeed - it's the same thing. I ordered them on Bolo and they were at my house when I got home. They're only like £5 too. But I digress, 10/10 would recommend this product!

I used to give these five stars until I realised Compeed make the exact same thing for a fraction of the price! I feel completely ripped off. Yes these work, yes if these are all you can get, they are worth it. Especially if you are wearing them for the same reason I was, to protect my little one from the virus. But the Compeed ones are EXACTLY the same.

These things work!

Problem gone within less than 2 days! Also, despite what the leaflet says, you CAN apply creams to the area prior to applying the patch. Obviously don't do it when you've FRESHLY applied it, but wait about 30 min for it to dry, and then you can proceed with applying these. They won't come off prematurely, I promise. Even AFTER 12hrs they remained in place.I usually gently wash the area with a little warm water and soap, pat dry, then place a little Abreva, do a red light treatment, and then apply these 30 mintues after. Worked like a charm and only a day and a half later, itching, tingles, and even visible marks, GONE. Only thing I have left is a little slight flaking/crusting where one of the marks used to be, but it's VERY minimal and most people wouldn't notice it unless they were all in my grill, up close and personal. I've been typically keeping that at bay with a little Aquafor Healing ointment, just to combat the dryness and it seems to suffice. When the time feels right, I'll go ahead and exfoliate the remainder of that.Anyway, so far, so good. You can either use this alone, or combine it with other treatments for more accelerated results. Of course, your mileage may vary, and what works for one, may not work for the next person. For me, adding these patches into the mix really took it to the next level.This problem went on for what felt like weeks with SOME progress, but suddenly I add these in and the issue is practically gone in a day and a half. I think it was a matter of needing to cover them to keep them from being exposed to the elements over and over since I work in a very forested area both in the mornings and in the evenings. Also, it's true; you can wear make up/lipstick/gloss over the patches and they won't go anywhere.I've also eaten with them on and no issues. I will say if you're eating something like chicken wings or even a piece of fruit where you have to directly bite into it, might be smarter to just pick it apart with a knife or fork and just eat the pieces rather than risking it rubbing onto the food and coming off. I ate a yellow nectarine yesterday and although it didn't come off completely, it did lift slightly. So I plan to either cut it up into pieces next time or just use the knife to cut a piece off and eat as I go. Ate a salad with lots of dressing and that was fine. Drank water directly from the bottle, that was fine. A burger or burrito, I'd probably cut that into at least half or break off smaller pieces to eat to make it more manageable.Of course, do what works for you. 5 stars from me because they worked. Problem is practically gone. I'm confident that by the end of day 2 I'll be 100% sore-free again. This was my first breakout in over 2yrs so the daily suppression treatments were working. But even with daily suppression, breakthrough episodes can still occur. Mine was triggered by me attempting to do a hair removal on my top lip (tried to wax it). Guess I'll just leave that alone lol. Lesson learned.

Excelente remedio para los fuegos. A pesar que me acabe los parches muy rápido, en 5 dias ya no tenia nada. No me lastimó ni tuve dolores u ardores como veces anteriores. Evita costras. Lo único es que ya pasó un mes y aun tengo una ligera mancha roja, como cicatriz y es algo que nunca antes habia tenido.Sin duda los volvería a usar

I've had many cold sores, but this is the first time I've heard of a patch for it. I currently have the Mother of All Cold Sores and it sucks. These Mederma patches are helping a ton, though. From what I can tell, there's no actual medication to it, it's just a cover, so my expectations were low. My first patch stayed on 36 hours before I removed it myself. It pulled off a bunch of the gunky mush when it came off, which helped make my sore cleaner. TROUBLE STICKING? TRY THIS: I imagine the wet goo is what keeps these from sticking for some people. When I removed my first patch, I washed my sore with a touch of soap (uncomfortable because touching the sore stings), then rinsing well and drying by patting with a dry paper towel. The patch can stick to the plastic holder rather than your lip if you try to apply it quickly. I learned that the first time. The second time, I pressed the patch gently to my skin and held it there, pressing firmly for 10-15 seconds before peeling the plastic applicator away. The patch stuck to my skin beautifully. Normally, my tongue cannot stay away from my sore because they tingle and hurt. This patch stops the tingling/hurting. Every few hours, I'll feel a much milder, non-painful tingling that lasts a few seconds, then goes away. The rest of the time, when it would hurt non-stop, there is no pain. I think the raw, open nerve endings is what is causing pain, so covering them up fixes it. I'm super grateful to have these patches. Their ability to conceal the grossness is not fantastic, but it's better than having it out there for the world to see. (I don't use makeup most days, so maybe makeup would help.) It's worth wearing for the pain-reduction alone.

Powerful and Works quickly

I ordered this and got it same day. Wow. This works fast. As soon as I put it on, I could feel it working. I just pulled the little clear cover off the green backing and stuck it on, rubbed it on my skin so it stuck and gently pulled the clear backing off. It stays and I was surprised how well it covers it. I thought is this thing magic?! it stays, put too. The only time it starts to come off is when I’m brushing my teeth and after I dry my lip, I push the top back on. Now I’m just leaving it and when the whole thing comes off then I’ll replace it. I put it on last night and already feel so much better today and it looks a lot better. This is important to have in stock just in case this comes out of the blue, which is what happened to me. I’m so thankful for the people who created this. This is the best product I’ve ever used. And I’ve used others and it had no effect. This is powerful stuff
