5.0 out of 5 stars DIR-3060 WiFi Router with McAfee Secure Home Software
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } Prior to purchasing the DIR-3060 EXO AC3000, my home setup included a Virginmedia Hub 3 router with 500Mbs fibre broadband, a lot of IOT devices, around 30 devices connecting at any one time. Includes Smart plugs, bulbs, hive, home cinema, multiple Bolo echo devices, security cameras along with smart phones, tablets and desktop devices. I also have 2 TiVo boxes, one in the lounge and another in the main bedroom. The environment is a large detached house with ground and first floor. The Hub 3 is in the lounge (ground floor) on one end and the main bedroom on the 1st floor at the opposite end on the house. The Virginmedia hub was ok but struggled for signal in the master bedroom and the TiVo boxes rarely worked when trying to play a recorded programme from one box to the other. Given the broadband speed of 500Mbs, I had nowhere near those connection speeds in a number of rooms. Connectivity to my IOT devices was ok, never had any dropouts. Due to COVID and working from home, I needed a better signal in my makeshift office (the dining room which is at the opposite end of the house from the lounge (separated by a kitchen and hallway).Prior to buying the DIR-3060, I bought and returned a TP-Link Deco M5 (problems with Bolo 4K TV Firestick, Ring camera and Sonos units connecting) and a Netgear EX8000 Mesh Smart Extender (App would not correctly identify devices and required rebooting daily or every 2 days). It was important that I had a single SSID and could roam throughout the house on my Tablet and Smartphone which ruled out a cheap WiFi extender. The DIR-3060 was delivered on 5th June 2020, setup immediately and I have waited a month or so prior to writing this review to ensure there were no problems with devices disconnecting or unreliable service. The device was delivered with v1.01 firmware. My Hub 3 is now in modem mode and DIR-3060 providing connectivity for all my devices. The bandwidth in the dining room increased from between 2-7Mbs to around 350Mbs which is a significant increase in speed. The firmware has had 2 updates and is now running on v1.11.When I initially setup the device with the default settings on v1.01 I had a problem with 1 Bolo Echo device (I had another 2 identical models which connected without any issues). My Ring camera would drop connections as well. The D-Link support was spot on, I needed to disable WiFi Mesh (I don’t have any extenders anyway) and Smart Connect (which obviously isn’t that smart!). Disabling Smart Connect still allows you to have a single SSID for 2.4GHz and the 2 x 5GHz signals which is what I wanted to have seamless connectivity throughout the house.A good tip for the Ring Camera is to fix the IP address (Reserve IP - this will only work on the main WiFi SSID and not the Guest SSID). I discovered the Ring fix by checking various forums. Also with v1.01 firmware I had problems setting up the D-Link Defend (McAfee Secure Home Platform - includes 5 year subscription), it wouldn’t work. Firmware update solved this for me. This is really useful if you have children and want to control what they can access and when. It can also be used to control access for your iOT devices. There is also a real added bonus in that you can install McAfee Antivirus (2 year subscription) on an unlimited number of computers, tablets and smartphones (I’m still running another AV solution and will change when that when the subscription runs out).A decent amount of time has passed so that I’m confident I can recommend this device if you need to have a decent Wi-Fi signal throughout the house and garden without the need to install Extenders (size and wall thickness permitting). The added security software makes this modern router an absolute bargain. WiFi 6 routers will future proof your network but comes at a premium at the moment and devices with WiFi 6 are few and far between (let’s face it, most iOT devices still only work on 2.4GHz Wireless LANs).
1.0 out of 5 stars Let down by user interface / firmware and stability
Initially this looked great and the 4G signal far better than on a mobile. Whilst a little dated the user interface seemed functional, with most options needed. The issue was stability, as you may find comment on by others. The interface becomes unusable and needs a reset each time. Signal reception can suddenly disappear, or lock to 2G, even though you phone is fine. A reset fixes but it’s short lived. Upgraded firmware, made it worse, so dropped back to version it arrived with. Thought I’d got it all sorted but a few days later, it became unstable again. Retuned, Bolo was great as usual. Went for a TP-Link to replace.....like night and day, smooth interface and equally good 4G signal. Has been completely stable and quicker on power up. It also detected correct settings for my SIM, it really is plug and play. Lots of other Management features, if you need them too. Sorry D-Link, this is well below expectations.
4.0 out of 5 stars This hub has an easy to use set-up wizard
This hub has an easy to use set-up wizard and allows advanced settings for the technically minded to play with IPv4 and IPv6 wi-fi and it accepts various sized Sim Cards in the same slot (micro size sits on a tray). It has both an 3G/LTE mobile network ariel and a wi-fi ariel, either or both maybe replaced with an external ariel in poor reception areas. It doesn't appear to have as sensitive a receiver part as my old D-link hub had (no internet available at around -67dBm) using my 6M high externally mounted ariel, so only gets four stars, because I needed change mobile provider to get a more usable signal.
5.0 out of 5 stars Good device, very useful
The D-Link G403 4G Router is a reliable choice. It offers steady 4G LTE speeds up to 150 Mbps for smooth browsing and streaming. The AI Wi-Fi Optimiser ensures a stable connection, and setup is simple with the SIM card slot. With four Ethernet ports and WPA3 security, it’s versatile and secure. Ideal for home or small office use.
5.0 out of 5 stars The best 4G SIM router available for the price
I had used 3G dongles to get internet access and found them quite good and reliable, getting download speeds of between 2 Mbps and 3 Mbps, quite good enough for general internet use although not so good for downloads or streaming services. So, as an experiment, I decided to see how much better 4G might be using the same Smarty SIM but with a Wifi router which could be shared between several devices rather than only be plugged into one at a time. I knew that D-Link manufactured affordable quality hardware and, after reading dozens of reviews online, decided that the D-Link DWR-921/B offered all I needed insofar as a suitable router went. When the device arrived I had it up and running in ten minutes flat, despite the fact that the instruction manual was very sparse, immediately ran an online broadband speed test and found that my download speed had increased ten fold in one fell swoop to over 30 Mbps! As you can see for yourself if you look at the picture associated with this review.IMPORTANT: When you set up your router run through its Wizard to change the devices SSID (so that potential hackers receiving its signal won't know who manufactured it), set the device's wifi key (a password used to connect to the router wirelessly) to something really strong and uncrackable, set a simpler password the web-based interface used to manage the router (so that nobody connected to the router will be able to change any of its settings) and the encryption used by the D-Link to maximum, i.e., WPA2-PSK(AES), so nobody will be able to hack the router or intercept any of your data.Having enjoyed D-Link speed for a good few days now I can't imagine going back to anything slower and have to say that buying this device was one of my best decisions of 2020. Easy to set up, sturdy, reliable, tried and tested if you are looking for a reasonably priced router that can connect to a 4G network and grant internet access using only a SIM look no further. You are very unlikely to be disappointed if you pick the D-Link DWR-921/B.

Ottimo router portatile da viaggio anche a livello professionale
ottimo in tutto!
