5.0 out of 5 stars SCRIB3D P1 3D pen
Brilliant pen. A great addition to my crafting. Thanks
4.0 out of 5 stars Good craft for a 12-year-old.
Purchased this for my daughter for a Christmas present as they were all over social media but I wanted to buy for a more reputable buyer for confidence when buying electronics. This one had very positive reviews so decided to give it a try and has been a great gift. It’s very easy to use; my 12-year-old was able to grasp the concept very quickly With loading the filament and creating 3-D works and for the next few weeks we were inundated with anything she could think to make. It’s a decent price point for the product however I have deducted a star because I was very disappointed to see the sheer lack of filament included. So much so that I had to purchase a bumper pack of filament from another supplier so that she actually had enough product to be able to spend Christmas day using it. Feel that there should be an option to add a pack on or pay an extra £10 to have a selection of colours added. At the time that I ordered there was no option to purchase separate filament colours from this particular brand and although the product drums into you that you should use the correct product for that brand to avoid damaging the pen, I had no option but to purchase from a random seller when this supplier failed to provide any.Other than that, works absolutely fine and although it was a five minute wonder and now sits in the craft table, I’m sure one day she will get back into it.
5.0 out of 5 stars Lots of fun on a rainy day.
Such a fun toy. I did think this could be a piece of cheap rubbish, but it’s actually so fun to use. A bit tricky to work out what heat setting it needs to be on as the instructions aren’t great, but after pressing a few buttons I worked it out. Similarly inserting the strings, you have to push it in while holding the side button down which isn’t clear ( and pull it out to get it out while holding the side button ) but once you’ve worked out how to use it, it works really well!
5.0 out of 5 stars Great fun
Bought these for the kids, bough of them love them, they are easy to use and are a lot of fun creating 3d drawings. I would recommend getting the little silicone finger proctors as the end of the pens can get quite hot.
1.0 out of 5 stars Doesn't work
My daughter wanted this for Christmas, i bought it in November ready for Xmas. She's only just taken it out to use it and it's not even turning on. Like there is no power going to it. Looks like my return window closed 31st January though. So not much we can do about it unfortunately. One unhappy girl. Make sure to open and try it soon after purchase in case yours has any problems.Update: I bought a new adaptor for it and it works now, the support team for Scrib3d were great to be fair. My daughter is now very happy with it.
5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to use, went through filament like lightning!
My son really enjoys playing with this pen. At 7, he definitely needs adult supervision with it. It does get hot and the filament is coiled so needs guiding through the pen. I love seeing where his imagination will go with his creations. Just got 3 colours, but wasn't an insane price to get a pack of all colour filaments from Bolo to go with it.
3.0 out of 5 stars Didn’t last
I bought it as a gift for 10 yr old. Absolutely loved it intil today when it clogged up at the nozzle. It’s only been used for about a week. The end doesn’t come off so it can’t be cleaned. Great idea if it lasted.

Absolutely awesome, bought as a birthday gift and it was her favourite gift. She is really enjoying using it. Highly recommend!
Hours of Fun for Creative Kids!
My son has been asking for a 3D pen for a while and it did not disappoint!! He loves being able to create things for us / his grandparents, and the 3D pen has kept him entertained for hours! Very happy with this product :)
Great for kids - but will need adult supervision!
Kids will definitely need adult supervision. For kids 8 and up, you will need to supervise them at least in their first 5 hours of using it. There is hot plastic that can easily burn a child so kids 7 years and under need supervision all the time (for kids 7 and under I believe there are other models that don't melt plastic??). My 6 year old has a few turns using her older siblings 3d pen but she hasn't requested one for the time being. My kids and nephew (8 and up) and us the parents are having the best time using it. It works on Australian power outlets (I've heard with other brands you need to purchase adaptors). It is not portable. We use baking paper to make our creations. We are starting to experiment using glass cups as moulds. It definately is a worthwhile investment as it is fun to make creations and think of ways to make them.I did buy a big bag of additional filament as there is not enough provided. I bought additional filament from Bolo. But I did purchase a more expensive filament from a different store (I have not used yet). We are having a good time practicing on the budget filament to begin with and the budget filament works really well. For kids recommend to watch YouTube vids to give them ideas on what to make eg. Barbie accessories etc. Buy for creative kids 8 and up.
Great pen for its cost.
This is probably going to be the most in-depth review I have ever wrote on Bolo. I am doing this because I feel like it is important for when you are shopping for 3D pens. This will cover the PLA that the pen comes with, and also PLA I bought elsewhere and why I have chosen what I have.-------------------My first impressions:I am surprised at how light the pen is. I have small-ish hands for a 5'1" woman and it felt very comfortable to hold. After reading the instructions, it states that if the PLA crackles or bubbles while the using the pen, to lower the temp. Sure, no problem right? Not really.I use wax paper to trace my designs on, I use this due to a youtube video which suggested it, and its a lot cheaper than the mats. I also prefer it over mats because it is paper thin, which gives me the most accuracy of my tracing which is important to me.I started using the pen at the default 190f. As I was using it, I noticed that the PLA did crackle in the pen, and it did form bubbles. As advised by the instructions I turned it down lower. The lowest point for PLA is 160f according to the instructions, however, it would not stick to the wax paper at all. I then tried 170f and again, the PLA would not stick to the wax paper as well as it had with the 190f. Once more I turned it up to 180f, it stuck, not as well as I would like but it was a lot better than the other settings. Also, at the lower settings it gives no time at all to adjust the plastic if you need to nudge or squish down a bump.Changing the PLA:After using most of the PLA given in the kit, I went out and bought from a local small buisiness (SUPPORT THEM!) which uses locally sourced PLA. Once more, I tried the 190f temp setting. Not only does the PLA come out much smoother, it sticks to the wax paper perfectly, and I am noticing my pen does not get near as hot using it. I can use it for much longer before deciding to give it a break. This means I can nudge the PLA, and bend it and it sticks well to my wax paper so it does not shift on me while working. I also notice that it is much less stringy than the PLA the pen comes with. PLA brand matters, and it is good to research into a good PLA, I am just glad our local PLA works this nicely.TIPS:Bonus, a tip to enjoy your pen even more. You can get a lot more use out of your pen with various other tools. A wood burner with temp control and multi tips is wonderful for shaping and smoothing your project after you had made it. Use aluminum foil covered in painter's tape to fill in big gaps to use less PLA. A course sand-paper followed by a smoothing sand paper also helps in finishing off the nice smoothness of the PLA. As stated before, Wax Paper is a wonderful material to work on. It could be used repeatedly until it eventually tears and painter's tape peels off it nice so you can adjust and move it. Look for some good youtube videos to get you started on techniques to best build your 3D Pen creations!Overall:This is a very nice pen for its cost, you can adjust the temp, its light and comfortable, also easy to use. Pictures provided show the projects I have made with this pen for my D&D sessions. The PLA that I bought works wonderful for being painted right on without any primer. If you are curious, I use 3D Fuel PLA. Someone suggested not to work it too hard, giving it a break every 30min or so, I think some times I do go closer to an hour. Always press the up button and get your PLA fully out before you turn it off (by unplugging it). Always trim the tail off the PLA. I have yet to run into any of the issues of it clogging or just turning off. Only twice did it seem to "turn off" and I think my PLA had nudged the cord since it curls, because it would auto go back to temp after.
