I start each day by taking liquid liposomal vitamins (C, K2 and D3) in a glass of water, then I have a tablespoon of C8 MCT oil followed by a heaped teaspoon of organic bee pollen. I then brew a large mug of organic coffee, stir in some honey and go straight to work. For me, this is the perfect recipe for a clear mind, focus and energy. I don't eat until a few hours later, as eating first thing taxes the digestive system, leaving less blood flow available for the brain (this is why, after a heavy meal, it's common for people to feel tired - much of the body's blood is shunted to the digestive system, meaning the supply of oxygen and nutrients to brain and muscles is reduced). As a tangential but important point, bee pollen isn't for everyone - anyone with allergies, particularly pollen sensitivity such as hay fever, should avoid bee pollen, while anyone else trying it for the first time should start with a tiny amount (just a few grains) and then gradually over a month or two build up the amount taken until it's a teaspoon. Now back to this C8 MCT oil. I first found out about this amazing oil when I was a teen and had just started lifting weights in my local gym. Some of the bodybuilders there had started taking MCT oil for its phenomenal energy-giving properties, which weren't widely known at that time. As is often the case, bodybuilders were ahead of the curve when it came to nutrition. Now people in the wider world are becoming aware of MCT oil's efficacy as a fuel for muscles, brain and nervous system. C8 MCT oil is the purest and most bioavailable form of MCT oil. SynBio's C8 is a perfect product. It's derived entirely from coconuts and is certified palm free, which means it doesn't contribute to habitat loss/deforestation. It's GMO free too, as all responsible supplements are. Like all the best C8 MCT oils, it's crystal clear and has a pleasing taste - not a strong flavour, but one that I instantly recognised as the way pure C8 should taste.I've no criticisms of the oil. My only criticism regards the container - a plastic bottle. Glass would be better. That's not enough of a criticism to warrant knocking a star off my five-star review, but it's something the manufacturer should take into account. Lead-free clear glass bottles would guarantee no leaching of chemicals into the oil over time. The same can't be said of plastic. So there is room for improvement as far as SynBio's packaging goes. The oil itself, on the other hand, is pure quality.
5.0 out of 5 stars Seems to be working for me - energy level increased.
I have been taking a MCT C8 oil for quite some time now for weight management purposes and also to help boost metabolism in general. It has worked for me and I find that since taking it my energy level has gone up and I don't need to take a nap in the daytime any more. MCT oils are also known to improve heart function, improve blood sugar, for their antimicrobial properties etc. This MCT C8 oil from SynBio comes in a big 500ml bottle for the current price of £19.25.I have taken this MCT C8 oil replacing my regular one for about 3 weeks now, and I continue to experience the same level of energy, same amount of alertness, therefore I believe this MCT oil is just as good, if not better, as my regular MCT oil. I take one teaspoon in the morning with food. Sometimes, I also add it in my coffee as a bulletproof coffee. It's very clear and has virtually no detectable coconut taste, well, it doesn’t have any flavour at all. Therefore would be suitable when adding to any recipes and concoctions. For anyone who's new to taking this energy-boosting oil, MCT stands for Medium-Chain Triglycerides of fatty acids. These fats can be quickly converted by our body into energy. MCT oil is usually derived from palm or coconut oil. There are four types of MCTs: caproic acid (C6), caprylic acid (C8), capric acid (C10), and lauric acid (C12). And caprylic acid (C8) seems to be the most metabolically active medium-chain fatty acid. And this particular MCT C8 oil has just that as its main ingredient- caprylic acid. For most normal healthy people, these fatty acids should not give any adverse side effects. Nevertheless, they might not be suitable for people who are allergic to coconut oil or those with liver problems. The possible side effects reported are nausea, stomach problems, vomiting and diarrhea. If unsure, please seek professional advice before taking this oil.Overall, I feel that this MCT C8 oil is of high quality and has worked as expected and therefore I am happy to recommend it.
2.0 out of 5 stars Tasteless...and pointless?
When I was young my mother used to dose me with something called "liquid paraffin" if I was constipated. This has a similar consistency and "mouth feel". It is completely tasteless. I can't tell if it's being converted to ketones or not. As far as I know, the best way to induce "ketosis" and thus metabolise fats (and lose weight) is to exercise and reduce the level of carbohydrate in your diet. Frankly, I wouldn't bother splashing out on this until you've tried that.
3.0 out of 5 stars Pure MCT C8 Oil [Palm Oil Free] |
You get a lot but I just can’t get on with it. I followed the instructions but after a few days my stomach got upset so I had to stop. Not for me sadly.
4.0 out of 5 stars Not the easiest thing to take.
I didn't know what to expect when I got this as most things these days are made to be more palatable making them easier to taste. This feels like it would feel to drink cooking oil, I have never dream cooking oil, but I imagine it would have the properties as this. The taste wasn't bad but the consistency is what put me off, it just feels like oil.I've really struggled to take this, I can't seem to cope with the consistency. As with most supplements is difficult to know if they work or not and sometimes you just have to take it on faith that is doing you some good.
