These are not as robust as torches made of e.g. aluminium, but are quite robust enough for my intended use. The packaging says that 30 hours of usage can be expected (from the 2 AA batteries - which are included), with a 35 metre range (which I haven't tested) and 25 lumens of brightness. So not a very bright light - but quite enough to light up a bedroom at night, or the recesses of a large cupboard. (I've put one of the pair of torches in a bedside drawer, and the other in a drawer in the kitchen.) An inexpensive and helpful addition to the home!

First of all...Great Price! Second the torches are robust and small enough to place almost anywhere. One is in the glove compartment of my car for emergencies; second is in a safe place in house. These torches give a very good amount of light and is way bright enough for most things. Switch is firm yet easy to switch from off to on. They are plastic but once again robust and durable (not waterproof). Remember to remove the yellow/orange sticker from off the base of the bulb where the AA battery connects to before using. These are a wise investment and come with decent batteries also.

Good quality functional bright torches which have a adequate amount of power and are very easy to use. Nice design and size and so handy and useful. Highly recommend and will buy again when needed.

2 Torches supplied with batteries. Light is quite bright. However these torches are not made of aluminium per the description. They are cheaply made moulded plastic, likely ABS. £8.99 for the two is a bit steep.

These torches are BRILLIANT (pun intended). They fulfill what's asked of them perfectly (which is unusual in this world of overly-complicated gadgets). They are indeed 'retro' in that they a). Only have one light level, b). Have a simple on-off switch, c). the on-off swith is operated by your thumb when holding the torch naturally. In this respect the are like the Ever-Ready torches of 50 years ago, except they are a third of the weight and 4 times brighter ... and a fraction of the price. Terrific. Oh - and they are NOT BLACK !!!A contrast to almost all modern torches, where you press some button once to turn it on and 3 times to turn it off, and which is BLACK. When do you need a torch? When it's dark. So what colour should it NOT be?!The description of this product is misleading.Yes, you get TWO torches: one blue and one Yellow. (Not black as in the text)Each torch is 6" (15cm) long, and weighs just 68g including the 2 AA batteries (supplied)They are not waterproofTo summarise: I can't imagine anyone over the age of 50 who wouldn't appreciate a pair of these torches as a present.
