5.0 out of 5 stars Great sounding, compact, simple soundbar
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } This Bose soundbar is ideal if you are short on space and looking for a simple, great-sounding and compact soundbar.Size of unit: This is the smallest soundbar I could find from a decent brand. Looks sleek and unobtrusive. Perfect if you have a smaller TV in the bedroom or kitchen. No separate subwoofer which saves on space.TV sound quality: No Dolby Atmos (the latest surround sound standard), but it still sounds punchy and clear. I rate the feature to make dialogue sound clearer. If you want to blast out an action movie with rumbling explosions, you will need something bigger with a separate subwoofer.Music sound quality: Sounds fantastic as a Bluetooth speaker and connects seamlessly to my iPhone. Crystal clear and lively sound.Set-up: Very straightforward, plug in and go. It has an ARC connection which means you can connect via HDMI. This means you can control the soundbar via your TV remote. You will need your own HDMI cable though. Alternatively you can use the included optical cable and keep an HDMI port free on your TV for your PS5 or whatever.Value: At £200 I thought this was a great buy. I see it is now £270. At this price point, other options open up. For example, Sony do a Dolby Atmos soundbar for £250, but it is a bigger unit.
5.0 out of 5 stars Changed our experience of watch tv completely. Excellent tv speaker.
This is not a sound bar but it is a brilliant tv speaker. Our tv is absolutely fine but some of the newer films and tv programs just have dreadful sound quality. The crunch came when I tried to watch Conclave and I couldn't hear anything that Stanley Tucci said at all and it was hit and miss with Ralph Fienes. Normally, they speak very clearly so o knew it was the way the filmed had been made. So I found this Bose tv speaker and it has transformed watching programs and they are now enjoyable after being awful. Just one problem with modern film makers, please can you turn the lights on so we can actually see what is going on? I get that realism it's important, but it makes no sense to me to spend millions on a film that no one can see nor hear. Anyway, this neat little speaker is highly recommended and the set up was straight forward too.
4.0 out of 5 stars A clear upgrade from the Solo 5 , which makes it worth the upgrade from an already ok Soundbar.
ProsNoticeable upgrade from Solo 5Nice boxy (compressed) cinema Sound (no surround)Perfect for bedroom or average semi detached lounge sizeWell built and easy to assembleArc control (goes on and off , controllable by tv)Excellent clarity, speech mode is the best there is from my experience, so excellent for people that have trouble discerning it.One of the best tuned bass ports I’ve heard at this size, hums without being over bearing, obviously dependant on room size and shape. (Able to adjust bass level)A sub can be added , but I wouldn’t recommend that for the sorts of rooms this is likely going to find itself in, mainly because it will ruin sound quality in smaller rooms (bass frequency will kill the upper ones) But also be nice to the rest of the family and your neighbours!ConsNot a con but expect to use this in smaller rooms or the compressor will become noticeable.Harsh compressor effect (a compressor limits dynamic range to stop volume boosts and distortion) loud sounds will start to make a pumping / breathing sound effect at high volumes. Negligible for most use cases, I.e. constantly having the volume at max.2.0 system so no surround , while a much bigger stereo field than solo 5, it’s still very narrow , expected at this size though , so be relistic with your expectations. However better than a half baked surround effect all Soundbar have at this price which is normally little more than a reverb effect and will wash away voices.Very good for music , but because of the voicing , more suited for TV and Film.ConclusionSound is effected strongly by room size and shape and where your TV is situated. So mileage may vary.Overall I think this Soundbar , while expensive , is priced well for the performance you get.It doesn’t have a very big stereo field but that’s expected at this size , plus it is only a 2.0 system. I have the large original SoundTouch 300 unit with the glass top, which has a pseudo surround which throws the sound much wider and is very effective , think the 700 is the equivalent today. But you will pay three times this.Music sounds very nice , but because of the way it is voiced and the heavy compression , it has a much more closed boxy (in a good way for tv and movies) sound , so you’ll get much better dynamics from a midrange dedicated stereo system. Then again it is stereo which most Bluetooth speakers are not, so swings and roundabouts.This is a Soundbar aimed at bedrooms and smaller lounges with excellent clarity , while you don’t get the booms a dedicated sub unit will give you, it’s the best I’ve heard at this size by a long way, I much prefer it to the Yamaha units even with the subs.Don’t expect surround at this size , if a bar has a ‘surround effect’ it is normally at the expense of clarity so don’t be sucked in. Better a quality 2.0 system than a rubbish surround effect to try and negate the 2.0.This is a quality not quantity unit that is reasonably priced for the quality you get, hats off to Bose , this is a clear upgrade from the Solo 5 and addresses all of the Solo 5s shortcomings, even has slightly more stereo field.Most of the expense seems to have gone into dsp (digital processing) to great effect. The bass port has been tuned and doesn’t interfere with the rest of the frequency range , as long you don’t mount it close to the wall so the bass port gets to do its job effectively.Highly recommended!
5.0 out of 5 stars great improvement
This was a cheap price compared to other sellers, £72 less, not sure why. It was definately all sealed and brand new. Comes double packed so well protected. Connected up via supplied optical cable and worked straight away. I did not want to spend a fortune just for TV sound as I already have a home theatre set up for my projector. The sound is so much better than the TV. To disconnect the TV speaker I plugged in an unconnected headphone plug. Then I programmed in the volume control of my Sony remote. I had problems here as I didn't realise that you have to do all the buttons in one go as every time you go into program mode it cancels the previous buttons. Now sorted. Changed the settings to auto switch off. Blue tooth connected no problem. So very pleased with it overall. As usual these days the included instructions are very minmal and in loads of languages so download their full instructions.
Falscher Netzstecker
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } Leider war in der Lieferung kein Netzkabel für deutsche Stromnetze enthalten.Eine Bedienungsanleitung in deutscher Sprache wäre auch net gewesen.
Value for money for entry level
The sound quality is exceptional. This is an entry level soundbar so the bass is not as impressive as the other ranges. But still value for money for general home use
perfect for home
i loved it .. affordable and excellent sound system through wifi and also used in TV ...
A great small size sound bar that is a step up from your tv speakers.
A great small size sound bar that’s a step up from your tv speakers.It’s pricey but if you are looking at good sound at a small footprint this is it.Clarity and mids are the standard Bose level of flat sound. Soundstage is not wide since it’s not the 300 500 or 700 sound bar since it has only 3 driver speakers.If you want those bass shakes this is not your sound bar, if you want that you need to spend more. I knew what I was getting and I wanted something that was a notch above the tv sound and it delivered well!Bluetooth is good and I use an AUX since my tv dosnt support hdmi arc (hdmi audio external)Downside: there is no hdmi pass through.If your looking a wide sound go for the sound bar 300/500 but again that dosnt have hdmi pass through and only optical and hdmi arc support. The 700 is a bit expensive but worth it as a all in one solution and extensions for future subs or rear satellites.
Great for improving TV sound.
It was advertised as a soundbar to improve the sound of your TV, and for clear dialogue. And it has done exactly that. Perfect for news and series etc where clarity of dialogue is important. There is pretty good bass too, so music does sound quite good. But don't expect more than that and you won't be disappointed. It's not for surround sound and movies etc, although it will still sound miles better than most TV speakers these days. Simple to operate - it comes on when you turn on the TV, and shuts off automatically soon after you turn off the TV. It has Bluetooth to connect to your devices, but that's about it. Simple and good.
