The Yayu Forest Reserve in Ethiopia is one of the last and most important remaning places for the conservation of wild Arabica coffee. We work with The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, partners in Ethiopia, and the Darwin Initiative (UK) to help preserve the Yayu coffee forest by producing this delicious heirloom coffee.

Lovely coffee when fresh
Had bought this coffee from a different supplier in 200g bags that were much fresher than the kg bag from Bolo. You can really tell the difference as the kg bag was flat in comparison, lost a lot of the aroma. Won't buy from Bolo because you just don't know hold old the coffee is despite being in date.
Buy Nothing Else
Probably the best coffee out there. Absolute coffee bean heaven for my grinder.

Perfectly roasted, fresh and nice balance of flavour and at a great price. Definitely recommend union beans and will try another bag soon
Disappointing – Lacked Flavor and Freshness
Unfortunately, this coffee was a big letdown. No noticeable flavor notes – just very bland. The roast date was 30 June 2025, but when I opened the bag it had a strange chemical smell instead of the rich aroma I expect from fresh coffee. I bought this in a rush for a family gathering, and it definitely didn’t meet expectations.

I've had good experiences with Union coffee and was looking forward to getting a 1kg bag (I didn't think they sold this size on their own site, but it looks like they do!). After receiving these, however, I was surprised how mediocre and bland the taste was. I blamed it on my extraction and thought it would improve after I dialled it in. But a couple of weeks later and I haven't managed to improve it. After reading other critical reviews on these beans, I realised I hadn't checked the roast date; I just assumed they would be fresh. Unfortunately they had been roasted over 6 weeks ago (at time of arrival), which I can only think is the cause for why these are underwhelming and not what I expect from Union Coffee. If these were cheap, I'd say they're a good enough buy, but at this price, I cannot recommend buying them here as you're unlikely to get fresh beans, which is essential to get the most out of speciality coffee beans.
Great coffee
Great tasting coffee, it was delivered on time and it was fresh. Really enjoyed it to the last drop.
