Superb action and good standout. It usefully has the traditional scale on the concave side of the blade but also on the convex side too which stops it popping up and off the end of a piece you can't reach to hold in place. Some reviews are very inaccurate unlike my tape which is totally accurate. I find returning to my old FatMax tape is now irksome and constantly search out this Festool. The build quality IS EXCELLENT actually!

I bought for the feature that it doesn't retract when you take it out. I much prefer this to ones where you have to lock it in place. The longer teeth also make hooking onto material far better.

Own quite a bit of festoon stuff. Only lasted 9 months with regular use. Tape went rusty and all the measurements debonded from the metal tape. Don't waste your time.

A variant on the standard auto (unpredictable) retractable tape in that it only retracts when required. It is also robust and comfortable in the hand. Relatively expensive but also relatively superior to the run of the mill alternatives. Pleased to have purchased this item and will do again.

La qualité au rendez-vous
Excellent produit et le fait de pouvoir lire la mesure sur les deux faces du ruban est un vrai plus.
Un mètre ruban précis et très bien adapté au travail du bois en atelier
Comme souvent chez Festool, même les outils les plus simples sont bien pensés. L’ergonomie du mètre est bien adapté pour une prise en main, le placement se fait naturellement sans chercher comment tenir le boîtier et appuyer sur le bouton pour libérer le ruban. Le ruban résiste juste comme il faut, ni trop, ni pas assez pour tenir en place avec sa butée sur une surface en bois. Les boutons sont bien placés, se poussent sans force, mais sans céder trop facilement.Le bouton sous le boîtier est bien vu et naturel à solliciter, franchement bien vu ! Le rubans ne s’enroule pas seul spontanément non plus, ce qui arrive souvent sur les produits bas de gamme. De même la butée ne bouge pas dans tous les sens mais uniquement sur 1mm dans l’alignement.Le ruban est incurvé vers l’intérieur pour faciliter la mesure des menuiseries. Il est cependant réversible et imprimé sur les 2 faces, ce que je trouve très pratique, notamment en conjonction avec le second bouton poussoir. J’ai aussi noté que le boîtier, à priori en ABS, ne glisse pas en main, mais il reste quand même très léger et à mon avis peu adapté aux chantiers extérieurs. C’est donc un outil plus adapté à l’atelier, notamment avec sa sangle prévue pour le suspendre.Je l’ai comparé en mesure à deux réglets très précis de type II que j’ai déjà et la mesure est parfaite sans déviations sur les petites mesures et jusqu’à 50cm. Il est donc bien adapté pour les travaux du bois.En utilisation courante, je l’ai utilisé pour mesurer des liteaux, poteaux, planches et métrer des découpes à la scie radiale. L’ergonomie et la tenue du ruban même déplié permet de viser sur 2m40 sans souci. Je n’ai pas l’occasion de dérouler 5m en atelier, du coup je n’ai pas fait le test de longueur maximale. Pour l’extérieur je privilégie les boîtiers plus costauds et qui tiennent seul sur un sol pas toujours très droit.En général Festool pense expérience utilisateur et notamment aux gauchers. Pas mal d’outils peuvent facilement être utilisés des 2 mains. Là, petit bémol, si en main c’est parfait à gauche, pour le ranger, le clip ceinture est fixé pour un droitier et ne peut pas se mettre sur l’autre face. Cela dit, sur la grande majorité des mètres rubans c’est comme ça également.Depuis que je l’utilise, j’ai laissé tomber tous les autres modèles que j’avais à l’atelier. Je ne sais pas quel sera sa longévité, cela dit en menuiserie il ne sera pas particulièrement malmené. En tout cas en ergonomiquement et en précision, il est réellement au top.Pour conclure, avec mon recul d’utilisateur, je conseille son achat pour ceux qui cherchent le petit plus de facilité.Les plus- Incurvé vers l’intérieur et dispose du métrage sur les 2 faces- Léger et très ergonomique en main- Les 2 boutons devant et dessous pour le rembobiner- Précision et longueur adaptée aux travaux d’atelierLes moins- Petit boîtier moins adapté pour les travaux d’extérieur- Ergonomie pensée pour droitier, le clip de serrage ceinture n’est pas amovible/réversible
