Since I collect hourglasses (over 500) and snow still on the ground, I needed a wide mouth hourglass in which to place some of his remains. This was absolutely perfect. Come spring I will sprinkle the rest of his remains on all his favourite places. Thank you.
It's broken?
First off, when I recived this item, I thought it would be bigger-- my mistake for not doing more research on this. However, my problem more lies with the lack of stability. The sticks surrounding the hourglass dont seem to be glued in and can easily be torn apart. I had wanted to use this for my wedding, but am looking to find a new one. This is cute! and I still plan on keeping it, it's just not something that will likely last very long.
Good but…
I used it for my wedding. We did a sand ceremony and said the sand mixing together when the hourglass flipped was like us mixing more as time passed. It’s very pretty and seems sturdy, but one side, the glass bulb is bigger than the other, so the sand fills up fine when one side up and the other side, it fills up with sand still left at the top. Also, the sand sometimes gets stuck between the two bulbs so I have to tap it. It’s fine as an ornamental piece but as a normal hourglass, it won’t work

I bought this to fill with my own sand. I used fine grain sand. It would only flow between the compartments about half way. Then I'd have to bang the unit to make the rest go through. That worked for another quarter of the sand and then the glass broke! Don't waste your money!
