Sturdy- but pay attention to load limits~

This is X-track, which is medium duty and perfect for holding a large tool chest against the wall of a trailer or tying down a motorcycle, lawn tractor, go-kart kind of thing. The accessories in this kit are load rated to 677lbs and a break strength of 2,000 pounds. In an accident, 2,000lbs of force will happen easily- so always think through which equipment you use to tie down various objects. The strap ends that come in this kit will fit X-track AND E-track both which is great. What's E-Track?E-Track is a larger track with slots that is typically intended for much heavier loads. Many professionals use E-Track to hold vehicles in place. Load ratings on E-Track rails can go up to 6,000lbs and it what you'd normally use when strapping a car to the floor of a trailer. Some E-Track rails are rated fairly low- you have to pay attention. The straps in this kit will fit in E-Track rails but are not sufficient for retaining a car.The super light duty tracks are called L-Track which is also sometimes called "airline" track although I've never seen it on any airplane. It's for light duty and is the smallest type, suitable for retaining plastic bins, tires, and in my case- a hammock in my car trailer for nap time. In my opinion, you can skip L track and use THIS kit instead since the load ratings are similar and the ability to share components between X and E track makes the most out of your investment.Do NOT mount track overhead as the ceilings of trailers are not designed to assist in load retention. I've seen that mistake done and in a simple accident which would have been just a nuisance, a $30,000 motorcycle broke free and was damaged and the trailer roof caved in. Side and floor only and even then, be careful about using the walls of the trailer.Quality, construction and installation:This CargoSmart kit is a perfect starter kit for medium and light weight retention. Motorcycles, lawn tractors, ATV's etc can all be strapped down with this equipment. The track itself lends to flexibility in there you place the anchors. For ultimate flexibility, one can line the entire floor or wall of a trailer with the track sections. Be VERY aware of where you drill to install the fasteners. The fasteners (screws) are NOT included and I'm certain this is a good thing- so you can choose the appropriate fastener depending on if you are attaching to metal framing, wood floors and if you need to use backing plates or bolts. If in doubt, ask a professional. Keep in mind that if you want to hold a heavy object in place, think about whether the installation method is strong enough.The quality of the webbing on the rope ring strap adapter in this kit is very good. The plating should resist corrosion and the stitching on the webbing looks to meet industry standard. Over time, watch for fraying or rotting in the stitching- regardless of the brand and style you choose. The welds on the rings are consistent with the industry standard and meet my expectations.The track components are of good quality, with no sharp edges and corrosion resistent plating. The mounting holes are 1/4" and keep in mind- YOU need to supply the screws/bolts etc to mount these. It's not an issue that the kit doesn't include hardware- it's because there is no hardware they could include which would be appropriate for all the various installations. In my case, I used grade 8 bolts with large washers on the back-side of the plywood trailer walls. In some applications, an aggressive threaded screw would be adequate. Again, seek help if you aren't sure.All in all, I'm extremely happy with this kit and it's a great start to load management. Not only can this be used in enclosed trailers but inside SUV's, cars, open trailers, pickup beds, garage walls and the list goes on. Good start to any cargo system

This is a good system it has many advantages to it. It makes securing a load rather fast and easy. It is very sturdy and my only complaint is it takes some time to install but that’s to be expected I guess. Over all very well built.

Nice quality tie down kit for trailers

I have an enclosed trailer that I use to haul a car in and have been looking for a system like this for a while. The rails screw into the walls or floor, and work best on the sides if wood pieces have been installed when the trailer was built. I have all the rails mounted to the sides. 2 in the front and 2 in the back. I plan to get more of the detachable D rings for the rear rails. The other rings just screw on and can't be removed.The rings it comes with are very strong and work well to strap the car down tightly. I also have a fuel tank which I have strapped down using the smaller rings. The 2 removable D rings with the straps are very well made, and hold a lot of weight. I haven't seen them online, but apparently more can be purchased from X-track. The track itself is the same as the garage kit, and the attachments are interchangeable. All the parts are rust resistant and made of thick metal. Hardware to install is not included, since it will vary depending on your trailer. Overall, a really nice system.

Seriously well made, modular, and very versatile

This kit comes with 2 large side rails, 2 single attachment points, 4 small ring points, and 2 ~6" webbing extenders. All of the pieces are high quality materials and uniform construction. I'm impressed with the quality of the pieces.I really love how versatile this kit is, there's so many options. You can just install this kit and have most of what you'll need to tie down almost anything, but also it's extremely modular meaning you can buy more individual pieces, or even a 2nd kit to really fill out your trailer tie down needs. The cutouts are good for attaching your ratcheting straps to directly, or you can use the webbing extenders to make it even easier and give yourself a little more flexibility. The steel is actually commercial quality sturdy, I'd expect to see these anchor points in a tractor trailer instead of on my little 4x8 flatbed trailer. I'm confident they'll provide years of safe, sturdy service.The only drawback I can think of is they don't come with any hardware for attaching them to your trailer. You'll have to get that for yourself. This could lead to some people getting less than adequate hardware and damaging their trailer, possibly losing a load due to the hardware failing. If the kit isn't going to come with the hardware for installing these pieces, the least it could come with is a sheet detailing exactly what is manufacturer recommended for the job.
