King Of The Delta Blues

Description:

He recorded barely twenty nine tracks, was dead before he reached the age of 28 and little is accurately known about his early days, yet Robert Johnson remains one of the most important blues musicians who ever picked up a guitar. His influence continues to be felt across many musical genres, and his own recordings are still highly regarded and revered. This collection of sixteen of his key tracks is probably the most important blues album of all time.

Excellent!

5.0 out of 5 stars A classic.

What can I say? I first had this on vinyl in the 1960s and it's an important piece of musical history; name any contemporary Blues artist/guitarist and he or she will probably cite Robert Johnson as a major influence. His timeless songs have been covered by countless musicians for around 90 years. A 'must have' in any recording collection.

The collection of songs that began it all. Every fan of blues or rock and roll must try to get this. One man and his guitar telling tales of love, loss and the devil(maybe?). Sublime

Room 414 of the Gunter was the scene of a historic recording session by blues artist Robert Johnson. Talent scout H. C. Speir had arranged the session with Brunswick Records who set up a temporary studio in the hotel where Johnson recorded a number of songs including the blues classic Sweet Home Chicago. In 2009, John Mellencamp came to the Gunter to record for a new album, No Better Than This in the same room where Johnson had recorded in 1936.
