I had my original one of this brand for years and it was an absolute staple on birthdays and Christmases when I was wrapping presents. The blades stay sharp, the weighted bottom means that it doesn’t tip over and you can use it one handed and I liked the baby pink colour in my office.Very easy to replace the tape and seems to work with any standard role of tape from the shop as the inside wheel is slightly smaller on one side which means you can push the role onto it until it’s wide enough that it stays nice and tight.The only reason I have to replace was because my daughter dropped it on one of her many occasions of stealing it for her craft work and broke the pin which holds the tape in the dispenser. Unable to find it, I couldn’t fix it so had to buy another but went straight back for the one I bought a couple of years before.It’s a good size without being too bulky, it cuts tape perfectly, it grips onto the table without sliding about everywhere, the colour looks nice, fits Most generic office Sellotape sizes and good value!

First off, the "Heavy Duty" label seems to fit. This dispenser has a good bit of weight to it, which is exactly what I was after. It doesn't slide around when you're pulling off a piece of tape one-handed, which is a massive improvement over lightweight ones. The base is non-slip, and it stays firmly put on my desk. The black colour is smart and doesn't look out of place in a home office or a more formal setting.Using it is straightforward. Loading the tape is easy, and the cutting blade is nice and sharp, giving a clean cut without too much effort. It takes standard-sized tape rolls, and the two included rolls were a nice bonus to get started with, though they were just basic clear office tape – good enough for general use, but you might switch to your preferred brand once they're done. I'm not entirely sure what the "500" in the name refers to, as "1540" seems to be the main model identifier I've seen for this Rapesco heavy-duty style.The overall build feels pretty robust. It’s mostly plastic, but it’s thick and feels like it can withstand a fair bit of daily use and the odd knock.Pros:Heavy and Stable: This is its biggest advantage. Solid and stays stable when it use.
I wanted a heavy tape dispenser and everywhere I looked locally they were plastic and lightweight. This came from overseas and is brilliant, exactly what I was looking for. Weighty and easy to use. Doesn't move around the table whilst in use. Pink wouldn't be my first choice but when the choice is pink or pink I was more interested in getting the right dispenser than the colour.
