5.0 out of 5 stars Great product
I was always forgetting to use up all the eggs in a carton before they went off, so gave up on eating eggs for a long time. I took a risk with this but it's brilliant. I've decanted it into a large mason jar to make it easier to use. They even provide a portion scoop which is good to have. The only downside is that I think the amount of water you need is more than shown on the packaging - although maybe I'm too generous with my scoop. I put the egg powder and water in my faithful, old, tupperware shaker and, voila, beaten egg! Makes great scrambled egg which I can't tell from fresh eggs. Shelf life is in months so well worth the cost, for me anyway. Yet to try an omelette or in baked goods but I can't see a downside.
5.0 out of 5 stars Fresh authentic taste, Superb store-cupboard Essential
This product is βwhole eggβ powder. Simply whisk a measuring scoop with water and you have an egg! Itβs as simple as that.It doesnβt need to be hidden/disguised in with other ingredients, as itβs authentic tasting. It makes lovely fresh tasting omelettes and scrambled egg.It bakes well in cakes and binds well in burger mix.I was going to say itβs as good as real eggs, but itβs actually better. It has a two year shelf life!Never run out of eggs again. The full pack makes 80 eggs. Just take out what you need, seal the ziplock bag and save the rest for later.
4.0 out of 5 stars It's Egg
Title just about sums it up honestly. It's egg. I got it for doing scrambled egg mostly so that's what I'll be talking about.Slightly different taste to fresh egg, but definitely still egg. I would probably discribe the difference as a slightly nutty taste. I find it noticable when by itself, but not when it's with something like beans. And it's still perfectly nice with the different taste Texture is more like hotel/ buffet egg (same texture all over, little rubbery compared to fresh) which I like. Seems reasonably versitile for making different types of egg.Really easy to make up and cook. The texture of the powder is a lot like icing sugar (fine and kinda clumpy) so I used the same method for mixing it as I do for icing sugar. Put powder in a bowl and gradually added milk while whisking until it was an eggy consistency. Took maybe a couple of minutes. It is definitely easier to make a thick paste to start with then add more liquid. Otherwise it can be a little difficult to get all the little clumps out.For larger amounts I would probably use a blender or electric mixer cos the more you have the harder it is to get to all those little clumps.Cooking time was maybe a minute or two for how I would usually do egg. For my small test amount it was more like a few seconds. I'm finding it's better to cook at a lower heat than I usually would, especially for more muddled egg vs larger chunks, because it cooks quicker than normal egg.Overall I found it a much easier and nicer experience than having to crack eggs. I'm especially excited to be able to just pull it out of the cupboard whenever I feel like it. Usually I end up not having egg when I want it or having too much egg with too little time. Date of my bag is about two years away so this will be really useful.Bag seems good and strong. There's a mark where it's clearly been poked at some point, but it hasn't gone through the bag at all. I feel like it will hold up well in my cupboards. I've put some into a jar to make it easier to use.Pictures include powder in jar with whisked mix (using milk)Scramble made from milk and butterCooking mix made from milk, butter and cheese (almost immediately after going in the pan)The resulting cheesey scramble with beansLower heat muddled egg with water, butter, cheese and tomatoAnd the ingredients lable from my pack (note it may contain traces of nut, milk and soy)Pleased I decided to try it. I think it will serve me well. Some other members of my family are already talking about streaking some of mine for camping.UPDATEI have now used this powdered egg to make cupcakes. I used the substitute quantities I found on Google (never checked if the pack had any listed). It did result in cupcakes. I'm not sure if that taste I mentioned earlier (the sort of nutty one) is also a little bit present in the cupcakes or if it's just how they taste anyway since I've not used that cupcake recipe before and don't have a real egg version to compare to.But whatever the case they are cupcakes. They look like cupcakes, they taste like cupcakes, they feel like cupcakes and I didn't have to go out and buy real eggs to make them.Very useful since I'm the sort of person who just randomly decides to bake something and doesn't do any prep at all.And a bonus update...I must admit that little odd taste it has to it is bothering me more and more. It's still a product I find useful. I never buy eggs so really it's this or no egg at all. But I think maybe in the future I would try a different brand to see if I can get one without that strange taste. Or perhaps for just scrambled egg I would suggest getting pre-cooked pouches inatead (although I believe they need to be in a fridge and don't last as long as powdered). That might just be how powdered egg tastes though. It's not a total deal breaker, just a bit frustrating because otherwise this would be pretty much ideal. It's mostly noticable with totally plain egg. Like I said I'm honestly not sure if I can taste it in the cupcakes or not and it's definitely not as alien a taste for cupcakes as it is for scrambled egg.
5.0 out of 5 stars My luckiest purchase via Amazon
I bought this in a fit of curiosity at the very end of 2019. Reading about its uses in the past (so where can you buy snook?) I thought it might be interesting and handy at tge back of the kitchen cabinet from time to time. I make pancakes often. And then came the lockdown. It has been invaluable. Fresh eggs are intermittently available, even though I live 20 yards from a small supermarket (sufficient social distancing).Fantastic for baking and the inevitable pancakes, I would just take issue with use in omelettes - maybe it was me but not nice. Scrambled eggs, maybe. And after lockdown? I want this in my cupboard and in my corner. But the pack is so big, it won't be for a while. Though who knows what the next time of dearth might bring (Brexit beckons). Thanks for this, a superior product at exactly the right time.
5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Egg Replacement
I have to be honest and say that I wasn't expecting much from this product. The reality is, I've been using it loads in the last week.In a nutshell, use it where ever you would a whisked egg, that's the easiest way to describe what you get.On their own, I find adding water to the egg to make a thick paste, then whisk in the rest of the water is the best way to get a smooth lump free mix. So far I've only made egg based meals with it, the images are of my recent Frittata with corn, onion and bacon grill. Frankly, it was absolutely yummy! I'm looking forward to making baked goods next :DDoing some cost comparisons, it works out at about 20p per egg if you translate what you get to what you would buy. So essentially, a box of medium sized Happy Egg company eggs from Asda. The different being, there's more kJ in this than in real eggs. Go figure. If you want to make my fritatta, head over to www.prepperspantry.co.uk
3.0 out of 5 stars May contain peanuts, nuts, soy and milk
Cross-contamination of UK allergens was not listed on the online description of the product, but is labelled on the back of the packet under the ingredients. As a family with an allergy to nuts, we are unable to use the product so have had to return it. Would have been easier to have listed this information online!
5.0 out of 5 stars Great for baking
Useful as a store cupboard staple for baking, especially during Covid 19 lock down. We tend not to eat eggs as such, but I either wasted eggs after using only two or three for baking or had to run out to the shops if I wanted to bake at short notice. The texture of my sponges and cakes is the same as when using fresh eggs, but I have yet to try the product in any other recipe. The only downside is the fishy smell from the packet but it is not evident in the baked item.A good time and money saver

Vivamente consigliato.
