Anaemia Test Kit Iron Deficiency Ferritin Testing Blood Anemia Test One Step (2 Tests)

Description:

  • WHY DO I NEED THIS ANAEMIA TEST? Anaemia is a common and potentially dangerous condition of the blood brought about when the body does not produce enough red blood cells. Anaemia due to iron depletion is widely held in children and women of all ages but mainly in women who still have their period (at least 20% suffer from iron deficiency)
  • WHAT ARE THE CONSEQUENCES OF UNTREATED ANEMIA? Without proper treatment, anaemia can lead to exacerbation of symptoms, causing increased fatigue and weakness. Additionally, individuals may be at risk of developing angina or experiencing discomfort in their legs while walking. Moreover, untreated anaemia can compromise the body's immune function, making individuals more susceptible to infections, resulting in a higher susceptibility to infections
  • HOW DOES THE FERRITIN TEST WORK? Ferritin is a protein and the primary form of iron stored inside cells. An abnormal result using the One Step iron home test kit means that the ferritin concentration in blood is lower than 30 ng/mL which indicates possible iron deficiency
  • WHEN SHOULD THE BLOOD TESTS AT HOME BE USED? The Ferritin Rapid Test Cassette should be performed if you have symptoms like paleness, feeling tired, headaches, faster heartbeat or shortness of breath during exercise, or (in women), when pregnant or in case of excessive bleeding during periods. This iron self test serves as an initial assessment
  • POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE RESULT: In both cases, the blood test kit serves as a valuable diagnostic tool. Positive results using this home iron test confirm the presence of Ferritin leading to prompt and targeted treatment, while negative results help exclude Anaemia as a cause, guiding healthcare providers toward other potential diagnoses and treatment options

I’m not one for going to the doctors but after feeling unwell for a while my husband suggested it my be a sign of me being anemic. Not wanting to faff around with the GP if it wasn’t I ordered this and it arrived next day. When it showed that I had abnormalities I booked in with the GP. Great product.

1.0 out of 5 stars These just aren't accurate tests

    R.S. · 10 January 2024

As someone who has struggled with iron levels and dipped in and out of anemia for years I've had plenty of blood tests - but as many of us do, I struggle to get GP appts for bloods as regularly as I'd like. I thought these home tests, whilst not giving me an actual ugl level, might give me a kind of "early warning" or easy home test to pre-empt a trip to the GP.I've done three of these now, and they just aren't accurate enough to bother with. Mine will normally show the *absolute* faintest of a line on the T level, so faint you can barely see it unless you hold it up to the light at a window when it becomes faintly perceptible. So I'll conclude my ferritin is low - if I then get an NHS appt and have my bloods lab tested (last time a week after the home test) I find that my iron is at 60 ugl, or higher. For someone that suffers with health anxiety, getting the *wrong* information is worse than having no information at all. My conclusion then is that these don't even serve a purpose as an early warning or broad test - you really are far better off going via the NHS and getting proper bloods done to establish your serum ferritin levels.

I tested on the day of my blood test at the doctors. I had a very faint line showing some ferretin in blood I think the test is supposed to show level 30. My level was low at the doctors (9) so I am on iron pills. I will use the second test in six weeks and see if my ferretin levels rise and hopefully get a stronger line. I’d say this is ok to use as a guide.

3.0 out of 5 stars Wasn't helpful in my case

Pretty straight forward test, though I hate finger prick tests. While waiting for a doctor's appointment, thought I would try this. The results suggested I was anaemic, and when I had my appointment and a proper blood test my results were all normal. So in my case this test didn't reflect the full blood test.

When the NHS don't have the time to check you buy this. I have bought multiple to check my iron deficiency and it works brilliant. One little stamp on your finger and away and results within minutes. It's an accurate little kit. If your feeling unwell and need answers fast that the NHS won't give you but this kit!
