5.0 out of 5 stars Need to invest in a can of spray adhesive
(function() { P.when('cr-A', 'ready').execute(function(A) { if(typeof A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel === 'function') { A.toggleExpanderAriaLabel('review_text_read_more', 'Read more of this review', 'Read less of this review'); } }); })(); .review-text-read-more-expander:focus-visible { outline: 2px solid #2162a1; outline-offset: 2px; border-radius: 5px; } Used to replace previous stick on tiles which had been in place for around 15 years. The new tiles did not have the same amount of adhesion as the previous ones, in fact we had to buy a can of spray adhesive to get some of them to even stick and there are still a couple that are not properly stuck. The overall finished effect was fine and I hope they last as long as the previous ones.
5.0 out of 5 stars Reasonable price - easy to handle
Was very pleased with the tiles-especially as the colour was accurate. As they were for a summer house I did find that adhesive was necessary but the fitting and cutting was very simple. Delivery was very quick and the overall effect is just what I hoped for so I am a very satisfied customer.
3.0 out of 5 stars Not sticking well to concrete in my case
They look great and were simple to install. Unfortunately, for some reason, mine refuse to stay down. They were installed on concrete, which I cleaned and kept dry before installation. I followed all instructions. But for some reason almost all of the tiles keep curling up at the edges. They were installed as the base for a closed fireplace, so it isn't that noticeable unless you're really looking closely, but would have been a disaster if I had been hoping to use them as a floor. I even left them piled with books to keep the edges down overnight. But they curled up again, hours after taking the weight off the next day.My theories are that perhaps, despite my cleaning, a layer of chimney soot was still deep in the concrete and is stopping the adhesive from connecting properly; or that perhaps, since the concrete was quite cold at the time of installation, the glue didn't adhere well because of the temperature. Either way, slightly disappointing, I'm hoping a little two-sided tape under the edges will help, but haven't tried it yet. Just be aware of the kind of surface you're planning to put these on, and plan accordingly.[UPDATE one year later] I did use a strong two-sided carpet tape finally, which has kept them down perfectly. Seems the glue on the backs of these just isn’t up to the job on concrete. But if you like the pattern, the second layer of tape will help. They look pretty good, despite all the faffing.
4.0 out of 5 stars Good versatile floor covering you can install yourself
I ordered 144 of these tiles ( 3 packs of 48 ). When delivered, I thought that the quantity was wrong and so I contacted the supplier. It turned out that the quantity was correct as ordered, just the labelling on the package I found misleading. Anyway, the supplier was polite and helpful and sorted it out amicably.I laid the tiles on a concrete kitchen floor. The full tiles are easy to lay. You just sweep the floor free of dust, peel off the paper backing on the tile and place it. The underside is sticky and holds it in place. At the edges of the area, you have to measure and cut shapes to fit. However, you can cut the tiles with a pair of strong scissors and this makes the job a lot easier than say using a Stanley knife. The back of the tile has arrows on the paper covering and the instructions say to place the tiles so that the arrows all point in the same direction. Ignore this because some of the backing papers have arrows in the wrong direction. Make your own decision about which way round to place the tile. It's easy enough to spot the same pattern on each tile.I laid 135 tiles in 3 days, leaving 9 full tiles and a load of offcuts. I am getting old so the bending up and down all day was the hard part using muscles not generally exercised to that extent. I guess it's good for you though isn't it ?Some of the tiles have a few marks on them but this is a floor and is going to get more marks as it is walked on. So I wasn't concerned and was happy with the overall finish. However, this is why I gave 4 stars not 5 stars ratingVinyl does have advantages. It probably deals with spillages better than any other floor covering in my opinion. You can sweep up loose bits dropped on the floor with a brush ( or a vacuum cleaner if you prefer ) and you can wash the surface with a damp cloth and whatever cleaning product you like.Ok, finally a tip : walls of kitchens are not straight (even though you might think they are) and corners of kitchens are not 90 degrees. So don't start with the first tile up against the edge of the area. Start half a tile width in from an edge and try to leave all edges of the area for partial tiles which you measure and cut.
